    摘要: A cable enclosure for enclosing electrical cable splices, typically telephone cables. An elongate housing having first and second housing members joined together along one edge for movement between housing open and closed conditions, and an elongate header for attachment to a messenger cable, with the housing members being closable about the header. A suspension system is provided for supporting the housing members from the header when in the open condition providing free access to the cables during the splicing operation. The housing members have replaceable end plates for handling various numbers of cables through each end plate.

    摘要: Sealed jointing apparatus is for use in the connection of conduit sections, at a connection zone, especially but not exclusively telecommunication cable sections. The apparatus comprises end closure means (3) bounding the connection zone and surrounding the respective conduit sections (2). Primary seal means (9) is for location between the end closure means (3) and the conduit sections (2). Casing means (17) surrounds the end portions of the conduit sections at said connection zone, and releasable securing means (19) for sealingly securing the casing means and the closure means (3). The conductor splices in joined telecommunication cable sections can be contained in a hermetically sealed zone bounded by the end closure means (3) and the casing (17) and access can be had to the cable splices simply by releasing the releasable securing means (19) and pushing the casing (17) aside. The end closure means (3) remain in position and the primary seal means (9) are untouched. Closure of the joint simply comprises the reverse of this operation.

    摘要: An aerial terminal for telecommunication cables characterized by its construction which includes a substantially weathertight chamber for receiving a segment of the telecommunication cable and permitting individual wire pairs to be separated therefrom. This chamber is known as the splicing housing. The aerial terminal further includes a terminal housing which communicates with the splicing housing so that individual wire pairs may be operatively connected to a telecommunication terminal block for ultimate connection to individual subscriber lines. In addition to the general construction of the aerial terminal for ease of installation and access for the purpose of connecting individual subscriber lines to the telecommunication cable, the aerial terminal includes unique sealing sleeves for protecting the cable most effectively from adverse weather conditions. Unique locks are also disclosed for preventing unauthorized entry into the aerial terminal.

    摘要: This invention relates to a pressurized telecommunication cable joint closure method and apparatus. Provided is a cylinder comprising a pair of semicylindrical shell members connected together along one elongate edge of each member and releasable securing means on the other elongate edge of each member. The securing means comprises a plurality of projections on one member edge and a matching plurality of receiving means on the other member edge whereas the projections extend radially inward and lie within a plane containing the longitudinal axis of one of the shell members. The cylinder further has interleaved rectilinear fingers at the ends that are for sealing to joined cables. A heat shrinkable wraparound member is used to enclose the cylinder and joined cables.

    摘要: A fixed count terminal for a sheathed multiconductor cable is provided that includes an elongate terminal shell having a cable port at each end and being formed of two half-shells that are substantially identical, each half-shell having transverse symmetry. A terminal block is affixed to the outside of the shell within an exterior block compartment having fixed count entry ports. Articulated binding straps hingedly unify the half-shells. Strand clamps affixed to the binding straps suspend the terminal from a support strand. Once wire work is complete inside the terminal, it may be closed and adhesively sealed since line drops may be connected to the terminal block outside the shell. Further, by virtue of the transverse symmetry of the half-shells, only one type of half-shell need be provided, a pair of which being sufficient to form a terminal shell.

    摘要: A method of forming an encapsulated splice region between two cable ends in which, after end portions of the core have been exposed beyond the jacket and sheath or shield, the conductors are splayed outwards and the cable end portions are brought close together. Splices are then formed between conductors of the two cables and the conductors are folded over either one cable jacket or the other to locate each splice upon and supported by the jacket. Each splice is individually covered with sealing material and end regions of the cables are encapsulated so as to encapsulate the splices and fluid tightly seal them.

    摘要: In an entrance terminal for a telephone cable, each terminal has an integral cable conductor trough at one side, generally closed by a cover. End walls in the troughs have apertures therein the apertures breaking through the edges of the end walls of the troughs, forming gaps of a width less than the diameter of the apertures. Sleeves extend through the appertures in adjacent end walls of adjacent terminals. By axially sliding a sleeve upward, out of the apertures, it is possible to remove a terminal without disturbing the remainder, as conductors can be eased through the gaps.

    摘要: A fixed count terminal provides an enclosed housing for the connection of service wires to telephone conductors contained in a communication cable. The fixed count terminal has a support bracket which is clamped to a support strand portion of the communication cable with a mounting bar extending between the points whereat the support bracket is clamped to the support strand. A cable portion of the communication cable is clamped to the support bracket by Z-shaped brackets and ground clamps and a tension bar extends between the Z brackets. A barrier wall divides the fixed count terminal into terminal and cable compartments and has a plurality of breakaway partitions which can be removed so that terminal modules may be positioned on the barrier wall. A base is also secured to the support bracket at the bottom of the barrier wall and has grommeted openings through which the service wires may be extended into the fixed count terminal and coupled to conductors in the communication cable via the terminal modules. Terminal and cable side covers are hingedly mounted on the base and enclose respectively the terminal and cable sides of the fixed count terminal. A nozzle is located at both ends of the fixed count terminal with each nozzle forming the entrance for the communication cable into the fixed count terminal. In an alternate embodiment, an auxiliary cable may be clamped to the support bracket by a Z-shaped bracket so that conductors within the branch cable also can be coupled to the conductors in the communication cable.
