    摘要: An apparatus for stacking successive rapidly advancing sheets of a stream of sheets has a platform which receives successive sheets and descends at the rate of accumulation of one or more stacks thereon. The sheets are delivered by one or more overhead belt conveyors in cooperation with one or more lower belt conveyors. The front end turn of the lower reach of each overhead conveyor is deflected around a small-diameter rigid rod immediately in front of a stop for the leaders of successive sheets to reduce the likelihood of buckling during stacking, and one or more downwardly sloping ramps are provided in front of the stop to deflect the leaders of successive sheets in a downward direction toward the leaders of the immediately preceding sheets in immediate or close proximity of the stop. The stop, the rod and the overhead conveyor or conveyors are adjustable in several directions to facilitate a change of setup for the stacking of longer, shorter, wider or narrower sheets. At least one of the ramps has one or more openings for the front end turn or turns of the overhead conveyor or conveyors.

    摘要: A sheet having an image of a document formed by a copying unit on one side is sequentially stacked in a stacking section of a two-sided/multiple copy unit. Such sheets are picked up by pick-up rollers one by one and conveyed to the copying unit by a plurality of conveying rollers which are arranged along a conveying path. A detection switch is provided on the conveying path to detect abnormality which may occur during conveyance of the sheet. If such abnormality is detected by the switch, then a door is opened by the operator and a caught sheet is removed from the rest of the machine. Upon the closure of the door, the door switch detects that the door is closed. At this time, the sheet is picked up from the stacking section by the pick-up roller prior to a copying operation by the copying unit and conveyed past a conveying path to a location near the copying unit. When a start-to-copy instruction is supplied to an operation panel, the sheet which is stopped near the copying unit is supplied to the copying unit where a document image is copied on the sheet.

    摘要: A control system for a web cutting line has a cutter for cutting a web of indeterminate length advanced along a web cutting line into sheets, and an end cutting shear for severing that part of the web that extends along the web cutting line from the major or upstream part of the web that has not yet reach the cutting line. A first defect sensor is disposed near the end cutting shear for detecting surface defects in the web, and a second defect sensor is disposed near the first-mentioned cutter for detecting a defective part of the web that includes a surface defect. The number of acceptable sheets that is expected to be obtainable from that part of the web that extends along the cutting line is estimated, based on the distribution of surface defects detected by the first defect sensor, and the number of acceptable sheets already cut off from the web is added to this estimated number. The end cutting shear is actuated to cut off that part of the web extending along the cutting line when the sum of the estimated number and the counter number of acceptable sheets reaches a predetermined total.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling a collator. A microcomputer learns hopper insertion points, jam switch insertion points, and hopper miss and double feed service angles relative to a reject gate. Based on the learn collator configuration, the controller controls collator operation. When a hopper phase adjustment is made by an operator, the controller automatically re-learns the hopper service angles during a ripple start of the collator and adjusts its reject data in response thereto. A miss verify sensor arrangement permits the controller to monitor for phase adjustments after a ripple start and to warn the operator upon such occurence.

    摘要: A rotary cylinder printing press in which the disadvantages incurred by having to stop each sheet to set it in registration with the printing cylinder are overcome by carrying the longitudinal register on a transfer cylinder so that the sheets can be set in exact register with the printing cylinder without stopping. The transfer cylinder is rotated continuously in the same direction and its speed is varied cyclically as each sheet is set in register and then transferred to the printing cylinder. The transfer cylinder is also provided with a safety system which detects misalignment of sheets or damaged sheets to prevent the transfer cylinder from conveying such sheets to the printing cylinder.
