Abstract: A positioning assembly (30) for positioning a sheet material, especially at an entry portion of a sheet material processing machine, is described. It comprises a support beam (32) on which at least a portion of a sheet material to be positioned can be placed and a plurality of clamping fingers (38). The support beam (32) is coupled to a drive unit (60) configured for translationally moving the support beam (32) along a travelling direction (y) of the sheet material, translationally moving the support beam (32) along a direction (x) transverse to the travelling direction (y) and rotationally moving the support beam (32) with respect to a pivot axis (z) being perpendicular to the traveling direction (y) and the transverse direction (x). Each of the clamping fingers (38) is coupled to an individual clamping finger actuation unit (40). Moreover, a sheet material processing machine comprising such a positioning assembly (30) is presented.

Abstract: A sheet conveyance apparatus includes a rotary member pair, a moving unit configured to move the rotary member pair in a width direction orthogonal to a sheet conveyance direction, an abutment member, an obliquely conveying portion, a detection portion, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to execute (1) a first mode of controlling the moving unit such that the rotary member pair is moved in the width direction based on a detection result of the detection portion before the sheet arrives at the obliquely conveying portion, and (2) a second mode of controlling the moving unit such that the rotary member pair is moved in a second direction regardless of a detection result of the detection portion in a state where the sheet is nipped by the rotary member pair and before the sheet arrives at the obliquely conveying portion.

Abstract: A sensing apparatus can be configured to detect an edge of a paper that is received by an automated transaction machine (ATM). The paper can move along a path located inside the ATM, the path having opposite first and second sides. The sensing apparatus can include a light emitter and a light detector on the first side of the path, with the light emitter positioned so that it can emit light across the path to the second side. The light detector can be configured to detect light from the light emitter and can emit a signal corresponding to an amount of detected light. The sensing apparatus can also include a control circuit that can control a flow of power to the light emitter, and the control circuit can also receive the signal emitted by the sensor.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, an oblique movement correcting portion including a first registration roller pair and a first moving portion, a reversing portion, and a re-feeding portion. The reversing portion includes a reversing roller pair and a second moving portion. The re-feeding portion includes a second registration roller pair. When an image is formed on a second surface of a sheet opposite from a first surface of the sheet, a side end position of the sheet is corrected by the second moving portion and oblique movement of the sheet is corrected, and then the side end position of the sheet is corrected again by the first moving means and the sheet is fed to the image forming portion.

Abstract: A sheet conveying device includable in an image forming apparatus that uses a method of conveying a conveyance target medium and a method of forming an image, includes a position detector, a position adjuster, and circuitry. The position detector is configured to detect a position of a conveyance target medium. Based on a detection of the position of the conveyance target medium by the position detector, the position adjuster moves in at least one of a width direction of the conveyance target medium and a rotation direction of the conveyance target medium within a plane of conveyance of the conveyance target medium and repeatedly adjusts the position of the conveyance target medium while conveying the conveyance target medium. The circuitry changes a conveying speed of the conveyance target medium, according to a change of the position of the conveyance target medium after adjusted by the position adjuster.

Abstract: A sheet positioning member is provided on a sheet placing surface in such a way as to be movable in a predetermined first direction. The sheet positioning member includes a moving body, an abutting portion, an operation member, and a cam portion. The moving body moves in the first direction on the sheet placing surface. The abutting portion has an abutting surface that abuts on the side end portion when the sheet positioning member positions the sheet. The operation member is supported by the moving body so as to be pivotable around a support shaft that extends in the first direction, on a side of a back surface of the abutting portion. The cam portion displaces the abutting portion toward the side end portion by being pressed by the operation member in response to a pivoting operation of the operation member.

The register (20; 60) includes at least one front pre-correction sensor module (80), placed upstream of the front correction sensor module (7) in the longitudinal direction, the front pre-correction sensor module (80) is configured: to detect the passage of a front transversel edge of the plate-like element (10) in at least two longitudinally spaced lateral axis of detection (P1, P2), one located in front of the other, and to provide measurements to a computation and control unit (40) of the processing machine (1) that is configured: to control the actuator module (201, 202) in order to move the gripping element (21; 22) toward the gripper bar (31) and to activate the gripping element (21; 22) in order to grasp a plate-like element (10).
