Abstract:
A random access procedure for use by a UE wireless communication terminal in communicating with a base station (or Node-B or eNB) of a radio access network, and in particular a E-UTRA network. A random access preamble is sent by the UE via RACH separate and prior to a random access message burst, which is sent on SCH but not until the UE receives one or more messages indicating an acknowledgment of the preamble and providing an allocation on SCH for use in transmitting the message burst, and also providing a preamble identifier, which the radio access network can then use to request retransmission of the message burst if necessary.
Abstract:
Either a first transport format or a second transport format is selected to transmit information corresponding to an input symbol sequence. The transport formats fit information into a timeslot having a predetermined duration. Based upon the selected transport format, either the information is created from the input symbol sequence using the first transport format or is created from the input symbol sequence using the second transport format. Creating the information for transmission using the first transport format applies a spreading code to the input symbol sequence. The information for transmission is transmitted in a selected timeslot having the predetermined duration. Creating and transmitting the information using the first transport format causes the transmitted information to occupy a first frequency band. Creating and transmitting the information using the second transport format causes the transmitted information to occupy a second frequency band that partially overlaps the first frequency band.
Abstract:
Pilot signal sequences with a low Peak-to-average ratio are generated by a method comprising the steps of providing a first signal sequence consisting of a first number, m, of signal elements and known to have a frequency spectrum with either identical or nearly identical non-zero amplitude values in a first frequency interval, performing an invertible first transformation of the first signal sequence into a first frequency spectrum in the first frequency interval, the first frequency spectrum consisting of m first frequency samples, performing a second transformation of the first frequency spectrum into a second frequency spectrum consisting of n frequency samples in the first frequency interval, the n frequency samples being formed by the m first frequency samples and a third number, n minus m, of additional second frequency samples, which have zero amplitude, such that the second frequency spectrum has m frequency spikes distributed over the second frequency interval, and performing a third transformation, which forms an inverse of the first transformation, to the second frequency spectrum to obtain a second signal sequence forming the pilot signal sequence.]
Abstract:
The invention relates to a base station for a radio communications network. In order to enable a simple enhancement of the estimation of parameters of uplink signals, it is proposed that the base station comprises a phasing network (11) for forming beams for fixed reception angles out of received signals provided by a receive antenna array; means (13) for determining the minimum deviation between a distribution indicative of the signal strengths of at least some of the formed beams and a plurality of pre-calculated distributions each corresponding to a different value of at least one specific parameter of the received signals; and means (13) for estimating the value of the at least one parameter in the uplink according to the minimum deviation. The invention equally relates to a method comprising the corresponding steps and to a base station module of a base station comprising corresponding means for determining the minimum deviation.

A multi-user receiver which uses at least two antenna elements and in which the influence of interference is reduced, the receiver comprises: means (200) for pre-filtering a wideband antenna signal, the pre-filtering means being determined on the basis of a spatial covariance matrix estimate, which spatial covariance matrix estimate is obtained from wideband antenna signals by sampling, arranging sampled values into a signal vector and by multiplying the signal vector by its conjugate transpose vector, means (210, 218) for removing the whitening from signals of predetermined users by using an inverse matrix of the matrix used in the whitening filter, means (202, 204, 206, 208, 210) for performing multi-path combining and multi-antenna combining.
Abstract:
A communication method and a communication arrangement in a Code Division Multiple Access radio system is provided According to one embodiment, at least two transceivers of the radio system communicate with a packet switched connection through a radio interface. The quality of the packet switched connection is measured and a target Signal Interference Ratio is adjusted based on the quality measurement. When a transceiver receiving packets transmits a request to retransmit in the case of failure in reception of at least one packet, a transceiver transmitting packets is configured to retransmit each packet requested as a response to the request. The target Signal Interference Ratio for retransmission of a packet is set lower than the target Signal Interference Ratio for the first transmission of the corresponding packet.

Abstract:
A symbol multiplied by a first constant amplitude zero autocorrelation code CAZAC reference signal RS is transmitted in a timeslot from a first antenna of a user equipment on a first physical uplink control channel in a manner that multiplexes with other user equipments. A symbol multiplied by a second CAZAC RS is transmitted in the timeslot from a second antenna of the user equipment on a second physical uplink control channel in a manner that multiplexes with other user equipments. The first and second CAZAC RSs are orthogonal to one another by at least one of the cyclic shifts or a cover code applied to at least one of the first and the second CAZAC RSs. The symbols may be the same or different, and may represent an ACK, a NACK, or a scheduling request indicator. These teachings extend to more than two transmit antennas.
