    摘要: Provided are an apparatus and a method of transforming a format of a multidimensional image so that the multidimensional image can be output by any type of display device. The apparatus includes a scaler and a formatter. The scaler receives the multidimensional image and scales up or down a resolution of the multi-dimensional image. The formatter receives property information about a display device and transforms the format of the multi-dimensional image to conform to properties of the display device. Accordingly, a three-dimensional image or a stereo image can be easily displayed by any type of display device.

In the image quality assessment method, the contrast of a measurement pattern displayed on the display apparatus, the brightness of the background, and the resolution are adjusted, and thereby the luminance characteristic of the measurement pattern is detected. Accordingly, the image quality of a display apparatus can be assessed using the number of waves determined from the luminance characteristic and the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the waves. Therefore, image quality assessment can be performed objectively by the display apparatus.

The 3D image display apparatus includes a disparity estimator which estimates the disparity between a first image and a second image which are obtained by photographing the same object from different angles; a computing unit which computes the adjustment disparity between the first image and the second image using a histogram obtained by computing the frequency of the estimated disparity; and an output unit which applies the computed adjustment disparity to the first image and the second image and outputs the first image and the second image in which the disparity is adjusted. Therefore, the input disparity between the first image and the second image is adjusted, and an image with an enhanced stereoscopic effect may be provided to a user.

    摘要: A method of aligning an optical system and an optical system incorporating the method. A hologram element is installed in the optical system so that test beams diffracted by the hologram element travel along a same optical path as test beams incident on the optical system. Alignment errors in the optical system are measured using interference patterns formed on an image surface by test beams returned from the optical system and reference beams. At least one optical element of the system is aligned using measurements calculated from the interference patterns. The optical system may provide for temporarily installing the hologram element to perform the measurements or the optical system may be constructed with a hologram formed on any optical element which may require alignment. A direction and a magnitude of any misalignment are determinable based on an appearance of the pattern and a number of circles in the pattern, respectively.
