摘要: A spacer device that is to be inserted between the spinous process of adjacent vertebrae. In one embodiment, the spacer device is percutaneously inserted between the spinous process of adjacent vertebrae using minimally invasive surgical procedures. The spacer device includes a body portion having a channel extending therethrough, a plate member attached at one end of the body portion that is larger cross-wise than the body portion, and at least one retaining member attached proximate to an opposite end of the body portion from the plate member. The spacer device is inserted between the spinous process with the retaining member stored within the body portion. A deploying device is inserted into the channel to deploy the retaining member to lock the spacer device in place.

摘要: A vertebral disc annular fibrosis tensioning and lengthening device that restores the loss of disc height as a result of disc degeneration and other factors. The vertebral disc annular fibrosis tensioning and lengthening device includes pedicle screws having heads with cup-shaped cavities. The pedicle screws are threaded into the vertebral bodies of adjacent vertebrae through the pedicles so that open parts of the heads of the pedicle screws face each other. A spring is inserted into the cup-shaped cavities in compression so that the spring bias forces the pedicle screws apart, thus increasing the height of the disc space.

摘要: A surgical delivery system that has particular application for providing bone graft material to an interbody device that restores disc space height during spinal fusion surgery. The bone graft delivery system includes a body portion and a shaft coupled thereto. An auger extends through a bore in the shaft and into the body portion. An end of the shaft opposite to the body portion is configured to be coupled to the interbody device, where the auger extends through a channel in the interbody device. Bone graft material is placed in a hopper coupled to the shaft, where the auger is manually or automatically rotated to deliver the bone graft material through the shaft and into the interbody device where it is dispersed into the disc space.

摘要: A disc space preparation device that has particular application for removing disc material during spinal fusion surgery. The disc preparation device includes a body portion that houses a motor having a shaft attached thereto that is rotated by the motor. The shaft extends through a chamber in a neck portion of the device and into an open head portion of the device at the end of the neck portion opposite to the housing. The head portion rotates relative to the neck portion. The head portion includes a series of blades that are used to cut-away the disc material. The shaft includes an auger that draws the cut material through the neck portion. A suction port is coupled to the chamber in the neck portion to remove the disc material therefrom.

摘要: A modular engine mount (EM) trolling motor/lower unit mounting bracket is provided. The bracket includes a lower mounting EM bracket that is secured to the cavitation plate of a vessel's outboard or I/O. This lower bracket includes a support carriage that supports the trolling motor. It is secured on the bracket by a cap. To accommodate dual trolling motors, a dual bracket is mounted on the lower bracket. This dual bracket includes a central yoke and two lateral support carriages. Caps are then used to secure each of the trolling motors/lower units on the lateral support carriages. In this configuration, the mounting yoke includes a closure structure that mates with the lower bracket to close the trough provided therein. In a tri-motor configuration, this closure structure is not included, and the trolling motor is secured in place on the lower bracket by the central mounting yoke.

摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for initiating execution of selected application processors in a clustered multiprocessor system without disrupting the addressing mode of the processors. In one embodiment, this is accomplished by initializing the processors in a conventional way, setting the addressing mode, and then leaving each of the processors in an active mode spinning on a designated Startup Address Location. To start an application processor, the OS simply write a target processor ID and a desired start-up address into the Startup Address Location. The application processor with the matching processor ID reads the Startup Address Location, jumps to the address specified in the Start-Up Address code section, and begins execution at that location. In another embodiment, a processor is provided that does not switch addressing modes when switched from a halt state.

摘要: The present invention teaches an equalizer preprocessor for a mobile telephone speech coder that adapts to the characteristics of its input transducer. The equalizer determines the frequency response of the input transducer by measuring the long term characteristics of the input signal and estimating the spectral envelope of that signal. The equalizer then adapts so that the output signal has a spectral response closer to a perceptually ideal response in accordance with the calculated spectral envelope. In a first embodiment of the present invention, the adaptive equalizer is implemented using digital filtering techniques. The equalizer determines a set of long term autocorrelation coefficient values and from these values generates a set of filter taps which serve to whiten or flatten the spectral response of the input signal. This whitened signal is then passed through a target filter which impresses upon the whitened signal the target spectral response. In an alternative embodiment, the equalizer is realized by using a bank of variable gain control elements to adjust the energy of subbands of the input signal. A subband filter bank divides the input signal into frequency subbands. Each of the subbands is then provided to a corresponding variable gain stage element and the energy of the subband is amplified or reduced depending upon a corresponding subband gain signals. The subband gain signals are determined in accordance with the long term subband energy and a target subband energy.

摘要: An apparatus and method for managing a number of data processing resources to produce one or more independent and separate data processing partitions. Each partition is defined as a proper subset of the total inventory of available data processing resources. Each partition is controlled by a system control facility. All system control facilities communicate with a site configuration management system, which defines and redefines the composition of each partition. The site configuration management system can move resources from one partition to another as required. Preferably, the system control facilities and the site configuration management system are industry standard personal computers which communicate via a local area network.

摘要: A method and apparatus for identify the source and nature of an error, without aborting the operation of the computer system. In one embodiment of the present invention, the source of the error may be a hardware element and the nature of the error may be identified as either fatal or non-fatal. If the nature of the error is considered non-fatal, the present invention may correct the error and continue the operation of the computer system. This may allow detected errors to be handled immediately after they occur, rather than aborting the operation of the computer system and waiting for a support controller or the like to analyze the error. This may significantly enhance the reliability and performance of a corresponding computer system. This may be especially important during time critical operations. Further, since the operation of the computer system may be aborted a fewer number of times, the present invention may minimize the amount of data loss. This may be particularly important for high reliability computer applications, including banking applications and airline reservation applications, where the integrity of the data base is of the utmost importance.
