    摘要: To permit below-dock level end-loading operations and to limit accidental freefalling of a dock leveler's deck, a dock leveler includes a unique support mechanism that employs one or more safety legs with an integral or operatively connected lip deflector. The support mechanism can be selectively moved to a deck-supporting position for freefall protection or moved to a lip-deflecting position for below dock level end-loading operations. In the deck-supporting position, the safety leg prevents the deck from falling an unsafe distance. In the lip-deflecting position, the lip deflector guides the descending motion of the dock leveler's lip extension plate so that the lip, while hanging pendant, can bypass and descend below a set of lip keepers.

In a preferred embodiment, the chocking apparatus includes a track secured adjacent a parking area; a movable chock; and means for temporarily fixing the chock to the track to substantially prevent the chock from moving. The movable chock has a surface which can be selectively positioned within the parking space at a location for engaging a tire of a vehicle. It also includes an extension for operatively engaging the track. The fixing apparatus may optionally comprise a pin sized to mate with a bore in a track or a frictional lock, preferably constructed as an over-center toggle.

    摘要: A method is provided for restraining a truck from movement during the loading and unloading thereof while the truck is parked in a driveway in a loading dock. The truck restraining device has a lock assembly comprising a base and a locking arm pivotally mounted to the base for rotating between retracted and extended positions. In the retracted position, the locking arm is substantially horizontal for permitting the truck to drive over the restraining device whereas, in the extended position, the locking arm extends upwardly for engaging the truck wheels for restraining movement of the truck.

    摘要: A vehicle restraint is provided for securing a parked vehicle against a loading dock during loading or unloading of the vehicle. The restraint includes a carriage member which is mounted on a dock wall for vertical movement and is biased to assume a predetermined elevated rest position relative to the roadway on which the vehicle is parked. The carriage member moves vertically downwardly from the rest position upon an external force of predetermined magnitude being exerted on an exposed cam surface of the carriage member. An attaching member is adjustably mounted on the carriage member for movement relative thereto between a vehicle locking mode and a vehicle release mode. Adjustably mounted on a lower portion of the carriage member is a toe-like member which normally assumes a pendent position projecting from the carriage member. The toe-like member has an exposed surface portion in an aligned coplanar relation with the carriage member cam surface and forms an extension thereof when the toe-like member assumes its pendent position. The toe-like member is moveable from its normal pendent position by a reactive force exerted thereon by the roadway when the carriage member moves vertically downwardly beyond a predetermined distance from its rest position.

    摘要: A device is provided for releasably securing a parked vehicle to an adjacent structure. The device includes a carriage first section affixed to the adjacent structure and a vertically adjustable carriage second section mounted on the first section and biased to assume a predetermined elevated position. The second section moves downwardly from the elevated position upon a predetermined external force being exerted thereon. A first element is mounted on the carriage second section for relative movement between an operative vehicle-locking mode and an inoperative vehicle-release mode. A second element is adjustably mounted on and substantially concealed by the carriage second section and coacts therewith and the first element to retain the latter in an operative mode. A manually actuated third element is carried on the carriage second section and is movable independently thereof to effect movement of the first element from the inoperative mode to the operative mode. The third element normally assumes a substantially concealed position within the carriage second section. A manually actuated fourth element is adjustably mounted on the carriage second section and is engageable with the second element to effect movement of the latter to a non-retaining position with respect to the first element, when the fourth element is manually activated in one relative direction.
