摘要: Prompt ink-temperature control can be performed without increasing the capacity of a power supply. In an ink-jet recording apparatus performing recording by causing an ink-jet recording head for performing recording by discharging ink to perform scanning on a recording medium, the temperature of ink is raised to a predetermined temperature by applying a pulse so short as not to cause ink discharge to a discharge heater for discharging the ink, and using a sub-heater for heating the ink. Parameters (short-pulse conditions) of a short pulse to be applied to the discharge heater are changed in accordance with the states of operations of a carriage motor for causing the recording head to perform scanning, and a sheet feeding motor for conveying the recording medium.

摘要: Disclosed is an inkjet printing apparatus for forming an image by repeatedly causing the scanning of a printhead that prints an image in a scan area using inks of a plurality of types. Residual duty, which is obtained by quantifying the mixed state of the inks used in printing the image in the scan area, is defined. The residual duty with regard to the next scan area is found from image data, the scanning direction for printing in the next scan area is decided based upon the residual duty, and the area is printed in the scanning direction that has been decided. Thus, back-and-forth scanning and unidirectional scanning are used jointly in appropriate fashion in accordance with the printed image. As a result, high-quality printing of an image becomes possible and a higher printing speed is achieved.

摘要: In divided printing method performing printing for the same printing region for a plurality of times of scanning, in order to avoid formation of banding due to density variations at a boundary in each scanning region, a predetermined nozzle width (e.g. four nozzle width) of boundary portion is set for each scanning region corresponding to a nozzle array established by dividing a plurality of nozzles (e.g. 248 nozzles) of a printing head by N (e.g. N=4). The number of times of scanning in the boundary portion is set, e.g. three times, smaller than that in region other than the boundary portion. Also, for mutually adjacent boundary portions, three times of scans of each of the adjacent boundary portions are performed simultaneously. By this, in each of the boundaries of respective scanning regions, no time difference will be caused in scan for printing respective regions.

摘要: An ink jet printing apparatus which inhibits possible bleeding by thinning color data adjacent to black data and enables printing free from image quality degradation such as gradation skip is provided. Specifically, when only one pixel has color data and pixels located vertically and horizontally adjacent to that pixel have no color data, an isolated point pixel containing a color dot is detected only in that pixel. Then, the dots other than the isolated point are thinned-out. This makes it possible to inhibit possible bleeding at the boundary between a color area and a black area and to achieve proper printing with the appropriate gradation of the entire image maintained.

摘要: The present invention provides a printing apparatus and a printing method according to which, even when misalignment in mounted print heads or a print medium conveying error has occurred, a high quality image can be printed by performing one-pass printing or multi-pass printing of a time division driving method. In a case wherein a plurality of nozzles are divided into a plurality of blocks to perform time division driving method, the driving order for the plurality of nozzles in the print head is changed in accordance with a displacement of a plurality of nozzles employed to print on the same raster.

摘要: In an inkjet printing apparatus which performs printing on a printing medium using an inkjet printhead for discharging ink, preliminary discharge, where ink discharge irrespective of printing is performed at the time of print execution, is performed under a predetermined condition to obtain information regarding a discharge state of the printhead. Based on the obtained information, an execution condition of the preliminary discharge is controlled. By virtue of this control, an execution condition (parameter) of the preliminary discharge can appropriately be controlled in accordance with the discharge state of the printhead, in which the ink drying state and the increased viscosity state of ink vary depending on individual differences, usage environment, usage histories (durability) and so on.

摘要: Disclosed is an ink jet printing apparatus and an ink jet printing method whereby the occurrence of smearing and boundary bleeding can be prevented, and high quality images, such as black characters, can be printed. According to the present invention, in high black duty matrix detection processing, a printing area wherein black dots are to be formed at a comparatively high duty is detected, and in adjacent color matrix detection processing, a printing area wherein color dot is to be formed and an adjacent printing area adjacent to the printing area are detected. Based on the detection information, data for providing color dot is generated.

摘要: For a serial inkjet printing apparatus that performs printing by employing ink having different properties, the occurrence of smear is prevented without decreasing the printing speed more than necessary. A high duty area, i.e., a unit area for which a large amount of ink is applied, is detected in a preceding printing medium. Then, while taking into account the scanning direction (ink application order) in which the detected high duty area has been printed, the period until the following printing medium is permitted to contact the high duty area is determined. Then, during printing of the following printing medium, the printing operation is delayed, so that, within the determined period of time, the following printing medium does not contact the high duty area of the preceding printing medium.
