摘要： A fixing device includes two rollers to form a fixing nip and a separation plate assembly disposed near one of the rollers. The separation plate assembly includes at least one separation plate to separate a recording medium from the roller, a pair of contact members, a holding member having a rotation shaft at each end in a longitudinal direction thereof, to hold at least one separation plate and the contact members in a rotation axis direction, and a contact pressure adjuster to adjust a contact pressure of the contact members relative to the roller by bending a portion of the holding member holding one of the pair of contact members to the roller and to the opposite of the roller. When the holding member is rotated about the rotation shafts, the contact members contact the roller to separate at least one separation plate from the roller.

摘要： An exhaust recirculation control system of the internal combustion engine computes an oxygen concentration in total intake air containing recirculation exhaust gas in a cylinder and the ratio between an oxygen quantity in the total intake air and a fuel injection quantity (oxygen quantity/fuel injection quantity ratio). The computed values are compared with target values which are pre-set according to engine operating conditions and, based on the result of the comparison, at least an EGR valve or a fuel injection quantity. In order to perform such a control with high accuracy, a correcting means corrects a recirculation exhaust gas mass flow signal from a gas mass flowmeter on the basis of a predicted exhaust gas component concentration. And, by using the corrected recirculation exhaust gas mass flow, oxygen concentration in total intake air containing the recirculation exhaust gas in the cylinder and the ratio between the oxygen quantity in the total intake air and the fuel injection quantity (target oxygen quantity/fuel injection quantity ratio) are computed to perform EGR control.

The fixing mechanism includes a pair of rotating members forming a nip portion and fixing the toner image onto the recording sheet with the nip under pressure and heat, and an ejection guide member swinging relative to the fixing mechanism. The fixing mechanism further includes a plurality of separation pawl members turning about a rotating shaft, a bracket having an elastic member, a stopper pawl, and a supporting shaft configured to support the bracket. The stopper pawl further includes a pressing member and a lever moving to allow the stopper pawl to turn. The supporting shaft further includes a center axis about which the bracket is freely pivotable.

The supporting roller contacts inside the fixing belt and winds the fixing belt around a surface of the pressure roller to form a first fixing-process area upstream of and next to the second fixing-process area. The pressure applying member applies a pressure to the heat roller in a direction opposite to an ejection of the recording sheet from the second fixing-process area to adjust a fixing pressure of the first fixing-process area.

摘要： A fixing device for fixing a toner image formed on a recording medium includes an endless belt passed over a plurality of rollers. A press roller is pressed against a portion of the belt passed over a fix roller, which is one of the plurality of rollers. A heat source applies heat to the toner image carried on the recording medium being conveyed via a nip where the belt and press roller are pressed against each other. The nip has a width greater than 25.degree. inclusive in terms of a circumferential angle as seen from the axis of the fix roller. The fixing device prevents a recording medium from wrapping around the belt and broadens a parting temperature range.
