A messaging application permits a message sender to create a message composition intended to be sent to at least one message address. The message address includes a first portion identifying the message address as belonging to a group of addresses and a second portion identifying the message address as belonging to a specific address within the group. A determination is made if the first portion of the message address identifies the message address as belonging to a predetermined group or groups of addresses; if the first portion does not identify the message address as belonging to the predetermined group or groups of addresses, a warning is provide to the user of the device.

Upon being provided with an upgraded registration process that requires encryption, the mobile communications device has the option of continuing to register with a network node using a downgraded registration process within a specified time window which involves unencrypted registration requests and responses.     摘要: A user device and method for securely sending messages to a recipient. The device and method initiate a search for a certificate needed to encrypt a message to a particular recipient prior to receiving a send instruction from the user. The device may determine when a user changes the recipients for the message and, as the user composes the message, determine whether the requisite certificates are stored locally on the device or need to be obtained from a remote source. If the certificates required are not on the device, then a search of the remote source is initiated. The detection of changes to the recipient list and the initiation of any required searches occurs prior to receipt of a send instruction from the user.

    摘要: Embodiments of a system and method for providing additional security for data being transmitted across a wireless connection that has been established using a known wireless protocol (e.g. Bluetooth) are described. An encryption key is exchanged between a computing device (e.g. a mobile device) and a wireless peripheral output device (e.g. a printer, a headset). In exemplary embodiments, the encryption key is generated at the peripheral output device. Data associated with the encryption key is output at the peripheral output device, which can be input by the user at the computing device. The encryption key is then recovered at the computing device from the input, thereby completing the key exchange. The encryption key can then be used to encrypt and decrypt data transmitted over the established wireless connection, providing additional security.
