Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems may support rotational alignment of a first antenna panel of a first device and a second antenna panel of a second device. The first and second devices may exchange signaling that indicates a panel rotation capability and a panel rotation procedure configuration based on the panel rotation capability. The second device may transmit a reference signal from a central antenna element of the second antenna panel based on the configuration. The first device may receive the reference signal via two antenna elements of the first antenna panel and may adjust an angular rotation of the first antenna panel based on the reference signal to modify a respective distance between each of the two antenna elements of the first antenna panel relative to the central antenna element of the second antenna panel.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for pre-compensation of downlink communication based on a transmission of a request for the pre-compensation from a user equipment (UE). For example, the UE may determine an impairment at the UE that has a greater severity (a greater impact on downlink communication) or is associated with a greater amount of resources for processing relative to a remainder of a set of impairments that is experienced at the UE and the UE may transmit a request for pre-compensation of the impairment by a base station. The base station may transmit feedback to the UE indicating a confirmation of pre-compensation for the impairment by the base station or to deferment of compensation for the impairment back to the UE. If the base station acknowledges pre-compensation for the impairment, the base station may pre-compensate a downlink transmission to the UE for the impairment.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a capability message indicating a capability supporting network-side phase noise compensation. The UE may transmit, to the base station, phase tracking reference signals based on transmitting the capability message. In an example, the phase tracking reference signals may include a UE phase noise component which may be associated with a local oscillator of the UE. The UE may receive, from the base station, a compensated downlink transmission that is compensated based on the UE phase noise component. In generating the compensated downlink transmission, the base station may apply a multiplication factor associated with the estimated UE phase noise component to the compensated downlink transmission.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for sounding reference signals (SRSs) triggered by random access channel (RACH) message 2 for RACH message 4 physical downlink shared channel quasi co-location (QCL) are disclosed herein. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station via a transmit beam over a random access channel, a random access preamble and receive a random access response based on the random access preamble. The UE may transmit, to the base station via a plurality of transmit sub-beams, a plurality of SRS transmissions triggered by the random access response. The UE can receive, from the base station, a downlink control signal that includes an SRS resource indicator (SRI) that indicates a selected transmit sub-beam for a corresponding SRS transmission. The UE can use the SRI as QCL information for improved reception of downlink signaling with a refined receive sub-beam corresponding to the selected transmit sub-beam.
