摘要: A base station transmits a transmission signal to a user equipment (UE) device and a machine type communication (MTC) device. The transmission signal includes a plurality of data subcarriers conveying UE data for the UE device where at least a portion of the data subcarriers convey at least some of the UE data on a UE data layer and convey MTC data for the MTC device on a MTC data layer. The transmission signal also includes a plurality of control subcarriers conveying geographic location dependent control information applying to reception of the data subcarriers by the UE device and by the MTC device. The control subcarriers also convey data layer control information specific to each device.

摘要: A transmission apparatus includes a signal processing circuit and a transmission circuit. The signal processing circuit generates a first precoded signal and a second precoded signal by performing a precoding process on a first baseband signal and a second baseband signal, and generates a second reversed signal by performing an order reversion process on a symbol sequence forming the second precoded signal thereby generating a first transmission signal and a second transmission signal from the first baseband signal and the second baseband signal. The transmission circuit transmits the first transmission signal and the second transmission signal respectively from different antennas.

摘要: A technique for determining channel coefficients for a first array of antennas coupled through respective first phase shifters to a first radio chain and a second array of antennas coupled through respective second phase shifters to a second radio chain is described. As to a method aspect of the technique, pairs of first and second phase vectors are applied to the first and second phase shifters, respectively. Each of the pairs defines complementary directional gains at the first and second arrays for receiving reference signals. A channel estimation is performed in each of the first and second radio chains for each of the pairs based on the received reference signals. Based on the channel estimations for each of the pairs, at least one channel coefficient for the antennas in each of the first and second arrays is determined.

摘要: Aspects of the present invention provide additional MAC functionality to support the PHY features of a wireless communication system framework. The additional MAC functionality aids in enabling feedback from wireless terminals to base stations. In some aspects of the invention the feedback is provided on an allocated feedback channel. In other aspects of the invention the feedback is provided by MAC protocol data units (PDU) in a header, mini-header, or subheader. The feedback may be transmitted from the wireless terminal to the base station autonomously by the wireless terminal or in response to an indication from the base station that feedback is requested. Aspects of the invention also provide for allocating feedback resources to form a dedicated feedback channel. One or more of these enhancements is included in a given implementation. Base stations and wireless terminals are also described upon which methods described herein can be implemented.

A multi-input multi-output (MIMO) transceiver is coupled to feedline, the MIMO transceiver facilitating a transmission of first electromagnetic waves to the feed point of the antenna, wherein the first electromagnetic waves are guided by the feedline, wherein the first electromagnetic waves propagate along the feedline via a plurality of guided wave modes without requiring an electrical return path, wherein the first electromagnetic waves convey first data in accordance with one or more MIMO techniques and wherein the first electromagnetic waves generate first free-space wireless signals at the aperture of the antenna in accordance with the one or more MIMO techniques.
