    摘要: A method for developing toner for use in a single component development system, wherein the process includes a) contacting a styrene acrylate polymer binder resin having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of from about 50 to about 100 Kpse, and a number average molecular weight (Mn) of from about 10 to about 30 Kpse, a wax selected from the group consisting of polypropylene and polyethylene, and at least one colorant to produce a toner blend, b) aggregating the blend by heating at a temperature at or above the glass transition temperature of the styrene acrylate resin to form an aggregated toner core; c) adding a second binder resin to the aggregated toner core to form a shell over said toner core thereby forming a core-shell toner; d) growing said core-shell toner to a desired size; e) coalescing the core-shell toner by heating at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the second latex; and f) recovering toner particles, wherein the toner particles have an onset glass transition temperature of from about 50° C. to about 60° C., and a circularity of from about 0.950 to about 0.990.

    摘要: The latex of an emulsion aggregation toner is prepared without the use of a surfactant. The process comprises preparing an emulsion of monomers in water without a surfactant; adding a free radical initiator to at least a portion of the emulsion to initiate seed polymerization to form seed polymer, wherein the free radical initiator attaches to the seed polymer to form ionic, hydrophilic end groups on the seed polymer; and adding additional monomer to the composition to complete polymerization to form a latex polymer.

    摘要: A process for the preparation of polymer latex particles by conducting a pre-reaction emulsification with monomer, polar comonomer, water, surfactant, chain transfer agent, and initiator; and which pre-reaction emulsification is effected at a low temperature of from about 3.degree. C. to about 35.degree. C., for example, and thereafter, effecting emulsion polymerization by heating the aforementioned emulsified mixture in a reactor at a temperature of from about 25.degree. C. to about 125.degree. C. The aforementioned reactor contents are retained at this temperature, that is 25.degree. C. to 125.degree. C. for an effective time period. Thereafter, the reaction mixture is cooled.
