摘要: An automatic player piano is only equipped with key sensors, and the automatic player is expected to give rise to hammer motion to be varied together with the loudness of tones; the manufacturer prepared not only a velocity conversion table expressing a relation between measured values of the hammer velocity and measured values of the reference key velocity but also a reference table expressing a relation between measured values of hammer velocity and target values of reference key velocity through experiments, and the velocity conversion table and reference table were stored in a suitable memory in the automatic player; the automatic player determines a playback table partially through an experiment and partially through transcription from reference table so as to drive the hammers without influence of unstable key motion at large loudness.

摘要: A liquid developer capable of preventing each of the disadvantages of uneven development density caused by uneven distribution of colored particles, poor transfer due to an insufficient amount of the liquid, and poor fixing due to an excess amount of the liquid, without complicating handling with the generation of volatile gas. Present on the surface of toner particles to be dispersed in a carrier liquid made of dimethyl silicone are a silicone group of one-end methacryloxy-modified silicone and a basic group. The silicone group prevents agglutination of the toner particles with each other. The silicone group functions as an affinity group and provides the toner particles with an affinity to the carrier liquid. Thus, it becomes possible to disperse the toner particles uniformly in the carrier liquid. Besides, the basic group on the surface of toner particles allows the toner particles to ensure the desired charge amount. Therefore, colored particles such as the toner particles hardly agglutinate with each other in a nonpolar insulating liquid to be provided as a nonaqueous solvent, while the colored particles can be electrophoresed at high speed by an electric field.

摘要: An automatic player piano is a combination between an acoustic piano and an electronic system serving as a recorder and an automatic player; while a user is fingering a piece of music on the acoustic piano, the player strongly depresses some keys and softly depresses other keys so as to give artistic expression to the tones, and the depressed keys give rise to hammer motion at different values of hammer velocity; since the hammer velocity is proportional to the loudness of tones, the controller is expected exactly to determine the hammer velocity; the hammers travel on linear trajectories and parabolic trajectories depending upon the hammer velocity so that the controller estimates the hammer velocity by using different methods, whereby the controller can produce music data codes exactly expressing the tones to be produced.

摘要: An image forming apparatus of the present invention uses a highly viscous, dense developing liquid consisting of a carrier liquid and toner dispersed therein. A developing unit includes a developer carrier and a coating member for coating the developing liquid on the developer carrier. The developer carrier conveys the liquid to a developing zone where it faces an image carrier to thereby develop a latent image formed on the image carrier with the liquid. In the developing zone, the toner in the liquid, which faces the image of the image carrier, is caused to move toward the image by electrophoresis to thereby form a toner layer in which the toner is present in the carrier liquid and a carrier layer in which the toner is absent in the same. When the developer carrier and image carrier moved away from the developing zone part from each other, the toner is caused to move toward the image over a degree at which the developing liquid can separate at the boundary between the toner layer and the carrier layer.

摘要: An excess toner removal area is made broader over the whole area with respect to a developer applied area that is broader than an image effective area. Thereby a liquid developer, that tends to spread slightly broader than the applied area after being applied to a photoreceptor drum, is removed by a sweep roller that can sweep excess toner present in an area broader than the original applied area and an excess toner remaining area is then prevented from being formed on the photoreceptor drum. Accordingly, the excess toner on the latent image carrier is removed as much as possible, and a transfer medium and peripheral members are prevented from being soiled due to residual excess toner.

摘要: An attriter which applies a strong stress to a liquid developer, sufficient for generating the chemically non-equilibrium state therein, is parallel-connected with a developing unit, so that the stress is applied to a part of the liquid developer carried from a storage tank to a developing tank. However, in order to suppress crushing of the toner due to the application of excessive stress, the operation of the attriter is controlled in the following manner. That is, a charge quantity detection unit which detects the toner charge quantity of the liquid developer in the developing tank is provided, and based on the detection result thereof, the attriter is controlled.
