    Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus has a cyclone bin assembly having a cyclone chamber. The cyclone chamber with a physical filtration member defining the cyclone air outlet. The physical filtration member extends from the cyclone air inlet end of the cyclone chamber towards an openable bottom end of the cyclone chamber. The physical filtration member comprises a conical section which decreases in diameter towards the openable bottom end of the cyclone chamber, wherein a projection of the conical section meets at a location that is positioned between the physical filtration member and the openable opposed end. An openable bottom end of the cyclone bin assembly and the openable bottom end of the cyclone chamber are openable concurrently.

    Abstract: An upright surface cleaning apparatus is has a portable surface cleaning unit removably mounted to an upper portion that is pivotally mounted to a surface cleaning head. The surface cleaning apparatus is operable in a floor cleaning mode in which the portable surface cleaning unit is mounted to the upper portion and the above floor cleaning wand is inserted in an open upper end of the upper portion. The surface cleaning apparatus is also operable in an above floor cleaning mode in which the portable surface cleaning unit is mounted to the upper portion and the above floor cleaning wand is removed from the open upper end of the upper portion. When the surface cleaning apparatus is in the floor cleaning mode, the first mounting members of the portable surface cleaning unit engage the wand mounting members.

    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet. An air treatment member and suction motor are positioned in the air flow path. The hand vacuum cleaner includes an onboard energy storage unit and has a pistol grip handle. When the hand vacuum cleaner is oriented with its upper end above its lower end, the pistol grip handle is located at the rear end of the hand vacuum cleaner, the energy storage unit is located at the lower end of the hand vacuum cleaner with the suction motor located above the front end of the energy storage unit and the pistol grip handle located above the rear end of the energy storage unit. A finger grip area may be provided between the handle and the suction motor above the energy storage unit.

    Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus has a cyclone chamber provided in an air flow path. The cyclone chamber has a screen assembly with an outlet section, a longitudinally spaced apart distal section and a longitudinally extending porous section. The outlet section includes a non-porous member extending longitudinally inwardly an outlet section length from an outlet end of the outlet section to a longitudinally inwardly positioned inlet end of the outlet section. The outlet end of the outlet section overlies a cyclone air outlet. The porous section extends longitudinally inwardly from an outlet end of the porous section that is located at the inlet end of the outlet section. The distal section has a distal section length in the longitudinal direction that is greater than the cyclone outlet port length.
