摘要： An impact drive sprinkler is provided for projecting a water stream in a generally upward and outward direction from a water supply riser. The sprinkler includes a sprinkler body formed from a length of tubing mounted for rotation on the riser wherein the tubing is bent at a selected angle to define a smooth, substantially uninterrupted flow path from the riser to a discharge nozzle. An impact drive assembly is mounted on the tubing and includes a spring-biased drive arm formed preferably from inexpensive stamped metal parts for interrupting the projected water stream at regular intervals and for impacting the tubing to rotate the tubing in increments about the riser. The drive assembly is mounted on the tubing at a position downstream from the tubing bend such that the construction and operation of the drive assembly is unaffected by the magnitude of the angular bend in the tubing.

摘要： A step-by-step rotary sprinkler head comprising a sprinkler body having an inlet and at least one outlet communicating with the inlet, a mounting assembly supporting the sprinkler body for rotational movement about a generally vertical axis operable to communicate the inlet of the sprinkler body with a source of water under pressure, a nozzle in the outlet for directing water under pressure communicated with the inlet outwardly of the nozzle in a cylindrical water stream flowing in an upward and outward direction, a drive spoon arm assembly mounted for rotational movement with the sprinkler body and for cyclical movements with respect thereto between a position of stream engagement and a spaced position out of stream engagement for effecting step-by-step rotational movement of the sprinkler body in conjunction with the cyclical movements, and a stream diffusing assembly disposed outwardly of the position of stream engagement of the drive spoon for engaging the cylindrical water stream when the latter is out of stream engagement and diffusing the cylindrical water stream into a fan-shaped spray which is fanned out in a generally horizontal direction, the stream diffusing assembly including upper and lower plates, the lower one of which includes an upwardly and inwardly facing stream engaging surface disposed in a position to engage a lower portion of the cylindrical water stream so that the fan-shaped spray flows in an upwardly and outwardly extending direction after disengagement therefrom.

摘要： A nozzle assembly for a water sprinkler such as a rotary impact head comprising a generally flat member of wear resistant thermoset elastomeric material having an aperture in the central portion thereof constituting the stream defining orifice of the nozzle and a housing member mounting the elastomeric member and a backing member therefor in a sprinkler in flow transmitting relation to a source of water under pressure communicated therewith. The backing member has a central opening through which the stream defined by the nozzle orifice passes and a surface surrounding the opening facing in a direction opposed to the direction of stream movement operable to engage and support the elastomeric member in a deformed operative condition in which first portions of the flat member defining diametrically opposed portions of the periphery of the aperture thereof are disposed in downstream spaced relation with respect to second portions thereof defining diametrically opposed portions of the periphery of the aperture thereof displaced 90.degree. from the first portions so that the stream as it issues from the aperture of the flat member in the aforesaid deformed condition tends to remain flattened in the direction of the first portions and to fan out in a desirable droplet size in the direction of the second portions.

摘要： A vertical-axis water sprinkler with a reversibly rotating spray head has an internal control shell rotating with the spray head in a fixed housing. Adjustably fixed in the housing are a plurality of pattern defining plates. A pattern sampling disk with a specially contoured aperture therein is carried on a control shell within the housing and communicates from a water inlet in the housing to the spray head. The aperture sweeps across the face and edge of each of the pattern defining plates as the control shell rotates in the housing. The positions of the pattern defining plates control or limit the volume of water flow to the spray head, thereby generating a ground coverage pattern conforming to the relative positions of the plates.The speed of rotation of the spray head is made constant despite changes in the output flow rate by design selection of a friction bearing and of the surface areas of the control shell exposed to pressure forces in upward and downward directions.Water supply pressure variations are accommodated in one embodiment by a plurality of pattern sampling apertures in a sampling disk coupled to a pressure selector disk having a single aperture radially aligned with the spray nozzle of the sprinkler head. Momentary engagement of the sampling disk to the housing permits rotating the spray head affixed to the control shell to change the aperture selected.
