    Abstract: An improved vehicle door hinge allows a door to swing open in a horizontal plane in order to clear the vehicle frame, this rotation is accomplished by a hinge. A curved rail mounted on the door then allows the hinge portion to move upward, the curvature of the rail allowing a small amount of motion of the rail to cause a twist of the door as it moves, and the twist causes the door to move clear of the doorway of the vehicle frame. The rail comprises roller races on each edge, the rail races have running on them a set of four rollers, two rollers on each edge of the rail. The hinge is located on one end of the rail.

    Abstract: A bracket assembly attaches a garage door track to the ceiling joists or another structural support. In one embodiment, an upper bracket includes an upper horizontal element, a lower horizontal element, and at least one support element extending between the upper and lower horizontal elements. The upper element may include a ceiling flange that is angled approximately ninety degrees from the remainder of the bracket. A vertical bracket member attaches to the upper horizontal element, the lower horizontal element and the garage door track. The bracket can reduce installation time, labor, and the potential for error from the typical installation arrangement and method by reducing the number of cuts that the installer must make, and by reducing the number of fasteners that are needed.

    Abstract: A vehicle door assembly has an inner sheet metal layer (16) which presents a substantially U-shaped structure. The inner sheet metal layer includes a latch mounting surface and at least one hinge mounting surface. An outer, substantially planar, sheet metal layer (14) is attached to the inner sheet metal layer to form a cavity. A structural reinforcement member (30) is disposed in the cavity to reinforce the inner and outer sheet metal layers, including reinforcements (44A, B and 28 A, B) for the latch and hinge mounting surfaces. A carrier assembly (60) is mounted to the structural reinforcement member, covering the U-shaped area, and a trim component (50) covers the carrier assembly.     Abstract: A sliding door moves between a closed position and an open position over a vehicle opening. A track is mounted along the vehicle and extends to a remote end. The length of the track is less than the distance traveled by the sliding door. A door bracket mounted to the sliding door has a slot extending parallel to the track with first and second ends. A roller bracket has rollers received by the track and is movable between a first position proximate the opening and a second position at the remote end of the track. The roller bracket includes a pin slidably received in the slot to shift between the first and second ends of the slot. The pin is pivotally retained at the first end of the slot when the sliding door is closed. The pin is retained at the second end when the sliding door is open.
