Abstract: A pigging ball valve with a housing and ball core supported for rotation within the housing. The ball core sits on a valve seat, which is supported by a seat carrier. The valve seat carrier has three distinct diameters that locate the seat in the housing and thus provides an anti-cocking feature. A seat insert has a pressure sealing surface and wiper lip on the outer diameter of the pressure sealing surface. An internal seat deflector ring is provided inside of the pressure sealing surface. Abstract: A ball-valve member, which in its valve-closed condition must have circumferentially continuous sealed contact with its seat, is mounted for rotation about an axis which is eccentrically displaced in the course of limited rotation of an actuating element that is journalled in the valve body. The eccentric throw is selected to be such in relation to the full course of actuating-element rotation that, beginning with a fully-closed condition of the valve, an initial fraction of the course of actuating-element rotation is devoted to achieving the eccentric throw (without rotating the ball), whereby to displace the ball-rotation axis in the axial direction away from seat engagement; the ball surface is thus displaced into axially offset clearance with respect to the seat, before devoting the remaining fraction of actuating-element rotation to the task of rotating the ball to its valve-open position. In the presently preferred form to be described, a rotary lost-motion connection between eccentric displacement and ball rotation makes it possible for a single direction of controlled driving torque to the actuating element to perform the indicated sequence for a valve-opening direction, and the reverse sequence for a closing direction of valve actuation; in the closing direction, all rotation of the valve-member ball is in axially offset relation to the seat, while eccentric displacement to achieve a seated closure occurs only after the ball has been rotated into axially offset register with its seat.

Abstract: A ball valve in which the ball of the valve is positively prevented from blowing out of the valve body in both directions, even if the valve is connected in the wrong direction or the fluid pressure is applied to the valve in the opposite direction. The ball is arranged in a valve body to selectively open and close a fluid passage in the body, and annular seals abut against the ball from both sides of the fluid passage, the annular seals being pushed towards the ball by seal carriers. Abstract: A ball valve in which, even when a connecting sleeve is removed by loosening the associated union nut, the ball and annular seals of the valve will not blow out of the valve body under fluid pressure. Abstract: A valve having a rotary valve head with an elastomeric seal attached to the valve head for use in a conduit is disclosed. Separate embodiments for use in a downhole tool and in an accessible surface valve are disclosed. An axially movable actuator tube is engagable with the elastomeric seal to maintain sealing integrity. A valve head with an integrally mounted seal can be actuated by an axially movable camming member or by a lever pivoting about an axis transverse to the conduit.
