Sodium percarbonate is produced by means of fluidized bed granulation. The process includes spraying an aqueous sodium carbonate solution and a hydrogen peroxide solution onto nuclei in a fluidized bed and evaporating the water. In the process of the invention, it is not necessary to use a phosphorus-containing crystallization inhibitor in order to avoid cloggings and incrustations in and on the nozzle. This is accomplished by spraying the solutions through separate channels in a single ternary atomizer nozzle, to provide external mixing of the solutions with respect to the nozzle.

Improved oxygen generating agents and oxygen generating catalysts are disclosed. The oxygen generating agent comprises sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate, 2Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3.3H.sub.2 O.sub.2, as an oxygen generating source and calcium carboxymethyl cellulose (Ca-CMC) as a bonding agent. The oxygen generating catalyst comprises hydrogen peroxidase as an essential ingredient, and salt cake and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as accessory ingredients. The hydrogen peroxidase, the salt cake and the PVA are kneaded with each other and, thereafter, granulated or tabletted so as to form the catalyst. The oxygen generating agent of this invention provides a stable oxygen supply for a long time. This agent is also remarkably improved in its preservation. The oxygen generating catalyst permits free control of the lasting time of oxygen generating reaction. This catalyst can be preserved free from deterioration of its performance for a long time.

Enzyme stability is adversely affected by increased temperature, humidity, and the presence of strong oxidants, such as peracids. The instant invention provides enzyme stability in the presence of oxidant bleaches by coating or encapsulating the enzyme, while providing enzyme solubility suitable for use in bleach mixtures upon introduction to an aqueous medium. Particularly, alkali and neutral materials act as protection agents, which neutralize oxidant species before they contact and denature the enzyme. Other standard bleaching composition adjuncts such as builders, fillers, buffers, brighteners, fragrances, and the like may be included in the enzyme-containing oxidant bleach composition in addition to the discrete coated enzyme granules.
