Abstract: A harmonic drive includes an internally toothed housing element (2), a pot-shaped output element (4) which is mounted in the housing element (2), and a likewise pot-shaped, resilient drive element (19) which is connected to the output element (4) and has an external toothing system (13) which meshes with the internal toothing system (14) of the housing element (2). A spring element (35) is active between the housing element (2) and the output element (4), which spring element (35) is arranged in an annular chamber which is delimited radially to the inside by a sleeve section (24) of the resilient drive element (19), radially to the outside by a cylindrical section (5) of the output element (4), and in the axial direction firstly by an annular disc-shaped surface (23) of the housing element (2) and secondly by a bottom (9) of the output element (4).

Abstract: A valve timing adjustment device includes: a driving rotating body that rotates with a crankshaft; a driven rotating body that rotates with a camshaft; a reduction mechanism configured to change a relative rotation phase of the driving rotating body and the driven rotating body by a driving force of an actuator; and a filter unit capable of capturing a foreign matter contained in lubricating fluid supplied into the reduction mechanism. The reduction mechanism includes: an internal gear portion having internal teeth formed inward in a radial direction, and an external gear portion having external teeth formed outward in the radial direction to mesh with the internal teeth. The driven rotating body has a supply hole penetrating in an axial direction. The filter unit has holes penetrating in the axial direction, and the holes are arranged in a flow path of the lubricating fluid connected to the supply hole.

Abstract: A cam plate is coupled to a driven-side shaft and is rotatable relative to a housing. A gear is placed on a side of the cam plate, which is opposite to the driven-side shaft. The housing has a contact surface that is configured to contact a wall surface of the cam plate, which is located on one side in an axial direction of the housing. Among two external toothed portions, one external toothed portion is located on an opposite side of the contact surface, which is opposite to the gear in the axial direction. The cam plate has a bearing portion that is located on a side of the contact surface, which is opposite to the gear, and the bearing portion has an outer peripheral surface configured to receive a radial load applied from an inner peripheral surface of the housing in a radially inward direction.

Abstract: An Oldham coupling includes an engagement arm. At least either a driving-side rotor or an input gear has an engagement portion engaged with the engagement arm and is connected to the Oldham coupling. The engagement arm has a pair of arm flat surface portions perpendicular to a rotational direction of the driving-side rotor. The engagement portion has a pair of engagement flat surface portions that the arm flat surface portions face in a sliding contact manner. Each arm flat surface portion is, within a range where the arm flat surface portion slides against a facing engagement flat surface portion, always in contact with an overlapping portion of the engagement flat surface portion with the arm flat surface portion when viewed from a direction perpendicular to a sliding direction of the Oldham coupling and in which the arm flat surface portion and the engagement flat surface portion overlap each other.

Abstract: A single-row planetary bearing includes a single row of spherical rolling elements between an outer ring and an inner ring. A planetary gear is supported by a thrust bearing portion and is radially supported by the outer ring. The planetary gear performs a planetary motion while engaging with a driving rotor and a driven rotor at an eccentric side to adjust a rotational phase between the driving rotor and the driven rotor. The thrust bearing portion supports the planetary gear that is tilting with respect to the revolution centerline. The planetary gear has a recessed portion opened toward the thrust bearing portion. When the rotational phase is adjusted to a specific phase, the recessed portion is positioned at an anti-eccentric side opposite to the eccentric side with respect to a rotation centerline of the planetary gear.

Abstract: The present disclosure employs a pair of camshafts for intake valves. A first phase controller is installed at a first end of the first intake camshaft connecting to a crankshaft. A second phase controller is installed at a second end of the first intake camshaft connecting to a second intake camshaft. Each phase controller can advance or retard phase angles to modify intake valve timing and intake valve lift. This set up is duplicated for the exhaust valves to modulate exhaust valve timing and exhaust valve lift. First and second camshafts are connected via a series of levers, which merge rotational outputs of both camshafts into one. The phase controllers can be differential gear sets, epicyclical gear sets, or a combination thereof.

Each of the first arc portion and the second arc portion is disposed from a position less than 90 degrees to a position more than 90 degrees as a central angle with respect to the eccentric axis from a biasing direction of the plate spring in the peripheral direction.

Abstract: In a control device and a control method for a variable valve timing mechanism according to the present invention, the rotational phase of a camshaft is measured based on the cam angle signal and crank angle signal upon receiving each pulse of the cam angle signal, and the rotational phase change over time within a period of the cam angle signal is measured based on the motor angle signal. It is decided whether the cam angle signal and/or crank angle signal has a prescribed pulse pattern at a diagnostic timing that comes after the last pulse of the cam angle signal. When this decision result is positive, it is then decided whether the motor angle sensor operates normally or abnormally based on the rotational phase and the amount of rotational phase change that are measured when the last pulse of the cam angle signal is received before the diagnostic timing.
