Abstract: Disclosed herein are fluid control devices for clot treatment systems, and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, a fluid control device can be coupled between a catheter and a pressure source and configured to selectively allow or prevent a vacuum generated within the pressure source to be applied to a lumen of the catheter. The catheter and the fluid control device can together define a lumen or fluid path to the pressure source. The lumen or fluid path can have an at least generally uniform dimension (e.g., diameter) along its length, which is expected to inhibit or even prevent choke points or other resistances to fluid flow through the fluid control device, including when used with large bore catheters.

Abstract: Systems and methods for the intravascular treatment of clot material within a blood vessel of a human patient are disclosed herein. A method in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include, for example, positioning a distal portion of a catheter proximate to the clot material within the blood vessel. The method can further include coupling a pressure source to the catheter via a tubing subsystem including a valve or other fluid control device and, while the valve is closed, activating the pressure source to charge a vacuum. The valve can then be opened to apply the vacuum to the catheter to thereby aspirate at least a portion of the clot material from the blood vessel and into the catheter.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for sealing medical devices, particularly during intravascular access, are disclosed herein. Some aspects relate to a hemostatic valve for sealing a wide range of medical devices, such as catheters, wires, embolectomy systems. The valve can include an elongate member having a first end, a second end, and a central lumen extending therebetween. A reinforcement structure extends along at least a portion of the elongate member and is coupled to the elongate member. A shell defining a first aperture and a second aperture may be included, which first and second apertures can be fluidly coupled by the elongate member. A tensioning mechanism is coupled to the shell and to the elongate member, the tensioning mechanism can be moveable between a first configuration wherein the tensioning mechanism is collapsed and the central lumen is sealed and a second configuration wherein the central lumen is open.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for removing a vascular occlusion, such as a clot, from a blood vessel. A tubular sheath is inserted into the vessel and a self-expanding Nitinol mesh filter is deployed from a distal end of the tubular sheath at a location proximal to a clot. An inner catheter is advanced through the tubular sheath and through the mesh filter for contacting the clot. An expandable agitation element is provided along a distal end portion of the inner catheter for cutting or chopping the clot, thereby facilitating removal of the clot and improving blood flow through the vessel. Resulting clot particles are captured by the mesh filter. Negative pressure may be applied along a proximal end portion of the sheath for aspirating remaining particles. Certain embodiments of the method are well-suited for treating deep vein thrombosis and do not require the use of thrombolytic drugs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for removal of thrombus from a blood vessel in a body of a patient are disclosed herein. The method can include: providing a thrombus extraction device including a proximal self-expanding member formed of a unitary fenestrated structure, a distal substantially cylindrical portion formed of a net-like filament mesh structure, and an inner shaft member connected to a distal end of the net-like filament mesh structure; advancing a catheter constraining the thrombus extraction device through a vascular thrombus, deploying the thrombus extraction; retracting the thrombus extraction device to separate a portion of the thrombus from the vessel wall and to capture the portion of the thrombus within the net-like filament mesh structure; and withdrawing the thrombus extraction device from the body to remove thrombus from the patient.
