    摘要: An image processing system and method for processing an input image provides a virtual observer for automatically selecting, ordering and implementing a sequence of image processing operations which will yield maximum customer satisfaction as measured by a customer satisfaction index (CSI) which, for example, can balance the image quality and the processing time. The CSI evaluates an effect of the sequence of image processing operations on the input image in response to upstream device characteristic data received from an input device profile, downstream device characteristic data received from an output device profile, host configuration data, user selection data, trial parameter values and data corresponding to the sequence of image processing operations. In a preferred embodiment, the effect is evaluated in accordance with predetermined psychovisual attributes of the input image as attained and codified by human observers who have subjectively selected a most pleasing test image corresponding to objective metrics of the predetermined psychovisual attributes.

    摘要: An image-receiving element for use in photographic and photothermographic diffusion transfer film units of the type wherein the image-receiving element is designed to be removed or "peeled-apart" from a photosensitive element following exposure and processing. The present image-receiving element comprises in sequence, a support, an image-receiving layer, and a strip-coat layer. The strip-coat layer serves to facilitate separation of the image-receiving layer from a photosensitive element after processing. The strip-coat layer comprises a copolymer including: 1) at least about 50% by weight of monomer units, the same or different, derived from an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or salt thereof, 2) at least about 15% by weight of monomer units of vinyl pyrrolidone, and 3) at least about 5% by weight of monomer units, the same or different, represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 of each monomer unit is independently selected from: hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, cyano, and halogen; X of each monomer unit is independently selected from --NH-- or --O--; and R.sub.2 of each monomer unit is independently selected from a hydroxy substituted alkyl group.

    摘要: Apparatus including a pair of rollers for spreading a processing fluid between a pair of photographic sheet elements at least one of which forms part of a film unit of the self-developing type. One of the rollers is rigid, having a substantially cylindrical configuration. The other roller is structurally configured to include a rigid support member having a curved exterior surface of convex shape over which lies a layer of resilient material having an internal shape similar to that of the exterior shape of the support member and an exterior sheet contacting surface whose shape is substantially cylindrical. Because of the structure of this second roller, the thickness of the resilient layer varies across the length of the roller thereby permitting a variation in the deformation capability of its sheet contacting surface. By specially selecting the variable deformation characteristics of this surface, both the initial distribution and subsequent flow patterns of the processing fluid may be controlled to meet the design requirements that the fluid thickness between the sheets be uniform and the film unit size minimized.

The doctoring surface may be the cylindrical surface of a roller or it may be effected by a portion of the film strip itself. In the latter instance, the film strip is constrained to a loop-like path during processing by appropriate guide means so that one of the oppositely facing surfaces in the neck of the loop provides the doctoring surface for the coating on the other of such surfaces.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for projecting scenes recorded upon additive color film. This film is typically configured having a filter screen portion overlaying an image carrying base. The filter screen may be formed as an array of parallel color stripes layed down in a repetitive sequence of colors such as red, green and blue. A diffraction grating of the transmission amplitude or phase variety is inserted in the optical path of a projector to cause zero and first order images of a recorded scene. The order images are mutually displaced so as to superimpose the film screen filter stripe images in a manner which substantially minimizes the visibility of the discrete color stripes at a display surface.
