摘要: A profiled rolling apparatus for lowering rolling resistance in track-guided, load-bearing movement applications. The rolling body, as part of a track roller, cam follower, caster wheel, or the like, has a radial groove (e.g. a V-shape with some internal angle) on which a non-linear profile is implemented. Profiles for various embodiments may be, but are not limited to, circular arcs, polynomials or other mathematical functions, or made up of multiple shorter linear and/or arc segments, creating a convex or concave contour on either side of the groove. Such crowning profiles may additionally or alternatively be implemented on the guiding track.

摘要: An externally driven conveyor pulley with an integrated thermal control system by which the temperature of the pulley may be controlled whether the pulley is rotating or stationary. The present invention includes a rotary connection device (or plurality of such devices) designed to transfer fluid (liquid or gaseous) or electrical current into/out of a rotating object. The rotary connection device may be a slip-ring for electrical power transfer or a rotary union for liquid transfer, but any device designed to transmit fluid or electricity into a rotating object could be utilized. In one embodiment, temperature control is achieved by transmitting temperature controlled fluids through the pulley via at least one rotary connection device. In an alternative embodiment, temperature control is achieved by transmitting electricity via the rotary connection device to a temperature regulating device in the rotating object. The temperature regulating device could be any electrical heating or cooling unit.

摘要: A longitudinally and radially formable wing tip lagging that can be formed to match non-linear wing tip profiles. The longitudinally and radially formable wing tip lagging serves as a wear surface that can be replaced as it is worn rather than wearing down the ferrous or non-ferrous wing tips permanently affixed to the outermost positions of the wing pulley. The wing tip lagging includes a backing plate and a sacrificial stratum. The backing plate is the primary structural component and it includes a plurality of bending features that facilitate both longitudinal and radial forming of the wing tip lagging. The bending features may include a plurality of notches or slots formed along the backing plate. For example, the notches may be arranged in a regular repeating pattern along the length of the backing plate.

摘要: A directional discharge wing pulley having a plurality of wings that discharge material in a single direction while properly tracking the conveyor belt. The directional discharge wing pulley may include a plurality of directional discharge wings, which are generally angled in a single or primarily in single direction across the entire face of the pulley. When pulley is operated a reverse rotation direction, the conveyor belt continues to properly track and the material is discharged in the opposite direction. The wings may have bends to create flat sections, or formed in a multiple arc pattern to create smoother changes in geometry or increased wing angle near the ends of the pulley, while generally maintaining a single direction wing through the entire pulley. Strengthening rib bends may be added near the end of a straight wing to add rigidity reducing the likelihood of wing fold over. The wings may include secondary wings, for example, in a Herringbone pattern. In some applications, the wings may include longitudinal or circumferential wing tips. In other applications, the wings may include a multi-start spiral.

摘要: A formed wing pulley for use in belt conveyor applications. The pulley consists of a plurality of formed wings with or without clean-out ports, mated to a positive placement polygon shaped core. The polygon core may be mated to hubs and/or end disks with centered hubs, which can be locked onto to a fixed or rotating shaft. Each formed wing of the pulley may be mated to the positive placement polygon core at the bottom side of the wing profile, and can have round, half round, hex, or flat wing tips that serve as the contact surface or the tops of wings may serve directly as the contact surface for the belt at the top side of the wing profile. When in assembled form, the formed wing pulley provides a set of radial wings that rotate about a central axis to support conveyor belt operation.
