摘要： An improved method and apparatus for operating or setting equipment within a subsea marine wellhead from the surface having an indicating signal provided at the surface of the successful completion of such operation. The steps of the method include the lowering of a well component and the detecting and transmitting equipment on a running string from the surface; detecting the successful completion of the subsea operation, and transmitting to the surface of a signal signifying that the operations within the subsea well head have been successfully completed. The apparatus includes the running string, the detecting means which may be an acoustic detector or a ferrous metal detector or other suitable detector, a signal transmitter, means for supporting the detector and transmitter on the running string so that the well component can be properly lowered and positioned within the subsea wellhead and its proper landing, sealing or latching or other desired condition signalled to the surface to provide an indication that the operation has been completed.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for making a casing patch while the casing is held under tension. The method includes the steps of lowering a casing patch tool to position the annular member to which the upper end of the casing is to be connected and a casing protection collar both in surrounding relationship to the upper end of the casing and with the cold forging tool and the tensioning spear within the casing, setting the spear within the casing at a level surrounded by the casing protection collar, pulling on the spear to tension the casing, and cold forging the casing into tight gripping and sealing engagement with the annular member. The apparatus includes the annular member to which the casing is to be connected, a guide sleeve on the lower end of the annular member sized to be lowered in the well bore and into surrounding relation to the upper end of the casing, a cold forging tool, a spear and a protection collar positioned wihtin said annular member at the level of the spear so that it surrounds the casing to prevent excessive deformation on setting and tensioning by the spear. It is also a part of this invention to provide an improved method and apparatus for tensioning the casing and protecting it from excessive deformation as a result of the setting and tensioning of the spear by surrounding its exterior in the area of spear engagement with a protection collar which has sufficient strength and is sufficiently close around the casing to provide such protection.

摘要： In an underwater pipeline connection system, a pair of swivelably interconnected pipes, supported in angular relation above the ends of a pair of pipeline sections, are provided with swivel connection members mounted on the free ends thereof which are adapted to be operably connected with taunt wire lines for guiding the swivel members and pipes from remote locations to positions adjacent the ends of said pipelines, actuator members connected between said swivels and said wires are adapted to move said pipes towards an aligned configuration when the swivels are thus positioned, thereby moving the swivels into engagement with the pipeline ends to form a completed connection therebetween.
