    Abstract: An apparatus, system, method, and article for downlink (DL) preamble processing for initial acquisition are described. The apparatus may include an autocorrelator node to determine an autocorrelation response of samples and to detect a downlink preamble based on the autocorrelation response. The samples may include a periodic sequence having two or more periods. The apparatus may include a frequency domain matched filter processing node to perform downlink preamble recognition based on a maximum peak of a frequency domain matched filter response and on an index of the downlink preamble.
