摘要： An enhanced thumbnail apparatus produces thumbnails in which one or more elements, such as a document header, or keywords specified by a user, are modified to facilitate review by the user. The enhanced thumbnails are produced by generating a reduced-size representation associated with the document, and modifying the appearance of at least one element in the reduced-size representation. The appearance of the at least one element may be modified by modifying its appearance while in a document format, and/or by modifying its appearance after being converted to a reduced-size representation.

摘要： A thumbnail image includes at least one selectable element. The selectable element may be selected, or the document as a whole may be selected. The selectable element is associated with either (a) a portion of the original document, smaller than the original document as a whole or (b) a document other than the original document. When the thumbnail as a whole is selected, the original document is displayed. When the selectable element is selected, the appropriate portion of the original document, or the document other than the original document, is displayed.
