A demolition shear has a pair of pivotably movable elongated jaws each having a pivot portion and an elongated jaw portion extending therefrom. The lower jaw portion has a cutter side wall, a guide side wall and an outer end wall, and the cutter side wall has an upper working surface with a generally V-shaped configuration, and a recess providing a blade seating shoulder extending parallel to the upper surface. The end shoulder at the proximal end intersects at an obtuse angle with the blade seating shoulder, and defines a reference plane. Seated on the shoulder are abutting; elongated rhimboidal lower cutter blades with end faces extending parallel to the reference plane. The outer end wall has an inner surface portion has a blade seating shoulder on its inner surface on which is seated a cross cutter blade. The guide side wall has a recess adjacent the outer end wall which provides a blade seating shoulder on which is seated a guide blade. The distal end surfaces of the guide and distal cutter blades extend parallel to the reference plane and bear firmly against the cross cutter blade which also lies in parallel plane. A demolition/scrap processing shears assembly includes pivotally connected jaws. The first jaw has first and second laterally-spaced shearing edges. The second jaw has third and fourth laterally-spaced shearing edges. The first and second shearing edges have a plurality of staggered shearing apexes that sequentially shearingly mate with the third and fourth shearing edges, respectively, as the shear assembly closes. As viewed from the side, the third and fourth shearing edges are offset from each other such that the first and third shearing edges shearingly mate with each other asynchronously relative to the second and fourth shearing edges as the jaws close. Staggering the shearing apexes and offsetting the shearing action of the left and right side of the shear assembly reduces the power that an actuator must generate to shear processed material.

A lubricating system for a heavy-duty metal demolition shears provides lubricating lubricant to one of more wear parts. The system includes a hydraulic lubricant pump that is actuated by the main hydraulic control system by means of which the jaws of the shears are opened and closed, and may include a sequential valve to distribute lubricant to various wear parts in sequential fashion. As disclosed herein, wear parts that may be lubricated by means of a lubricating system as per the invention include (but are not limited to) lateral blade stabilizers, a guide blade, and cutting blade insert members.
