摘要: A logical separation between pages, such as an implicit page break, is introduced to separate text entered during one handwriting session from text entered during another handwriting session. If the user leaves more than a threshold amount of blank space at the bottom of the page immediately preceding the new page, then an implicit page break may be inserted at the beginning of the new page. The amount of blank space left at the end of the preceding page may be combined with other criteria to determine whether to insert an implicit page break. The amount of time elapsed since ink has been captured on the previous page is another factor that may be used by itself or combined with other factors to determine whether to insert an implicit page break into the new page. A change in context, such as a different date or different recognized subject matter labels, is also a factor that may be considered in determining whether to insert an implicit page break.

摘要: The arrival of a new media volume or newly attached device is detected. The media or device is scanned in order to determine the type, and a complete list of installed software programs registered to handle the media type or device is presented to the user. This list may be generated and displayed while the disk is still being scanned. The user selects a handler for the media type or device, and may also decide if the handler will be the default handler when media type or device is subsequently encountered. The user may check and update the stored user settings to view or edit the default handlers for any media type or device. Additionally, the user is prompted to confirm or change the default handler after another registered handler of that media type has recently been installed on the machine.

摘要: The present invention includes a document control interface method for graphical message document computer software. The method is performed by a computer system executing graphical message document software for creating relatively brief documents, such as greeting cards, having relatively simple text and graphics elements. The method includes providing a user with an iconographic interface that allows a user to access directly selected portions of a graphical message document. A preferred embodiment of this invention includes rendering a selection icon for each of multiple pages of a graphical message document being edited. Each of the selection icons is separately selectable by a user with a conventional input device, such as a mouse or some other cursor control device.
