摘要： A system and method is disclosed for selecting content for display in an electronic document. In one embodiment, a first machine generates instructions tailored for execution on a second machine and transmits the instructions to the second machine over a network. The generated instructions cause the second machine to select, for display in the electronic document, a particular content item from a list of potential content items specified in the instructions.
