A circular knitting machine is described whose components can be adjusted to meet an order with the aid of adjustment data sets stored in a data memory and which relate to a predetermined knitting structure, yarn type, yarn thickness and quality of the knitwear to be produced and preferably arise from knitting processes already carried out on the circular knitting machine. A basic adjustment is preferably first effected on the basis of the adjustment data and can be followed by a fine adjustment with a central adjusting device for the loop size, until the desired quality is attained. The invention relates to a yarn changer for knitting machines, with swinging yarn fingers (22c, 22d), which comprise finger bodies and guide bodies (66c, 66d) having cutting and clamping elements (69, 71) slidable on the finger bodies, and with an opener (121) and closer (122) both associated with all yarn fingers in common. In order to reduce the number of moving parts and the noise occurring in operation of the yarn changer, the opener (121) and closer (122) are in such operative connection through a reverse-coupling mechanism (114-120) that they can be actuated in common by an associated cam track (102) acting on a control member (114). The control member (114) is preferably only in the working range of the cam track (102) when a yarn change is to be effected. The invention moreover concerns a knitting machine equipped with the yarn changer, especially a rib circular knitting machine, in which a yarn catcher cooperating with the yarn changer is built into the dial.

The movements of the needles and the sinkers are controlled by cams. Each slide has a tip. The invention relates to a circular knitting machine with knitting needles (4) and sinkers (25) for the production of plush fabrics. Each of a plurality of knitting systems has a means (71) for controlling the knitting needles (4) into a knock-over position and pattern devices arranged in front of this means (71). According to the invention, a first pattern device provided with a ground-thread guide (38) serves for selectively controlling the knitting needles (4) into a knitting or tucking position intended for the pick-up of ground thread (39) or a non-knitting position intended for the non-pick-up of ground thread (39). A second pattern device provided with a plush-thread guide (40) serves for selectively controlling the knitting needles (4) into a pick-up position intended for the pick-up of plush thread (41) or an intermediate position intended for the non-pick-up of plush thread (41).
