Abstract: The invention relates to measuring probe (100) for a spinning or casting rod (1) comprising a housing (101) with connection means (102a, 102b) on the housing (101) for securing the measuring probe (100) to a fishing line (2) of the rod (1) above the lure (3). The sensors include at least one of: an accelerometer (104), a gyroscope (105), a water pressure sensor (112), and an active sonar unit (111). The measuring probe (100) further comprises a wireless communication unit (108), preferably Bluetooth for transmitting stored sensor data to an external device when the measuring probe (100) is above the water surface (5), and a battery (110) for powering the measuring probe (100).
