Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses consistent with the present invention provide for improved clothes rollover in automatic washer cycles using time-varying rotor oscillations. An automatic washer has a wash chamber with a central axis and a rotor being rotatable about the central axis. Items are loaded into the wash chamber. Wash liquid is supplied into the wash chamber. The rotor is oscillated about the central axis by time-varying oscillations.
Abstract:
A method to wash varying clothes load sizes with the same level of water is provided for a washer having a controller. A clothes load size setting signal is received in the controller. A mechanical duty cycle is set through the controller as a function of the clothes load size setting signal. A high-concentration wash step may be performed where a wash basket of the washer is spun at certain speeds while a highly concentrated wash bath solution is sprayed, extracted, and re-sprayed over the clothes load. On the completion of this high-concentration wash step, the washer is filled to a common water level regardless of the clothes load size setting signal. The clothes load is then processed through a wash cycle until completed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for improving the drying performance of a dishwasher and the resulting products thereof. The method involves chemically treating a dishwasher component to alter or modify the chemical properties of the surface, rendering such surface hydrophilic. The hydrophilic surface sufficiently attracts water molecules within the dishwasher to enhance the drying capabilities of the dishwasher.
Abstract:
A laundry treating appliance and a method for operating a laundry treating appliance having a rotatable drum defining a chamber for receiving laundry. The operation of the laundry treating appliance may be based on the mechanical energy due to the falling action of the laundry.

Abstract:
A method for operating an automatic dishwasher in a manner to minimize the deposition of contaminants or filming on the dishes is provided. The present invention contemplates that objectionable filming on washed dishes or dishware items may occur if residual water left on the dishes at the end of the final drain step is not given a chance to drip off or drain from the dishware. The present invention provides for a drip period following the final drain step in the dishwashing cycle. The drip period provides an opportunity for gravity assisted draining or "drip-off" of residual water from the dishware items prior to evaporation such that the minute particles which are suspended in the residual water are not deposited onto the dishes. During the drip period, rapid evaporation of residual liquid from the dishware items is prevented. This is accomplished, in part, by keeping a vent aperture in the dishwasher door closed for a predetermined time after the final rinse such that the relative humidity remains high in the dishwasher tub and by delaying the energization of the heater such that evaporation is not promoted by the introduction of heat into the dishwasher tub. The present invention further contemplates the use of a purge operation prior to the rinse step wherein a small amount of liquid is supplied into the dishwasher, briefly recirculated and then discharged to drain. The combination of the purge operation with a drip period after the final drain minimizes filming on the dishware items within the dishwasher.
