    摘要： A valve cartridge has a housing with an inlet and outlet thereto. A valve plate is movable in the housing with respect to a fixed valve seat to control the quantity of fluid delivered from the inlet to the outlet. A bearing plate is positioned against the valve plate, a handle being provided on a handle bearing support to control the valve plate. A gasket between the valve seat and the housing is preloaded to provide a fluid-tight seal between the valve plate and the valve seat and a predetermined amount of friction therebetween. In manufacturing such a valve cartridge wherein the housing and the handle bearing support are formed of plastic, the parts are assembled and an ultrasonic welding mechanism is operated fixedly to secure the handle bearing support to the housing. It is preferable that the valve cartridge have a cylindrical housing in which the valve means are located and a base which carries the housing having its periphery confined within the periphery of the housing, and being recessed to define flange means for accepting fasteners used in mounting the valve cartridge.

    摘要： A replaceable valve cartridge for use in faucets, having ceramic shear seals and a completely dry stem, in the form of a cylindrically shaped plastic body having a nonrotatable valve disk at one end with inlet ports for fluid, a rotatable valve steam projecting from the other end, a nonrotatable sealing disk around the stem, and a rotatable valve member between the valve disk and sealing disk having parallel flat sealing surfaces at both ends engaging and forming shear seals with the disks, the valve member being operable by the stem to open and close the ports in the valve disk and having flow passages for conveying fluid to the outlet when the ports are open, and a spring biasing the stem sealing disk and valve member toward the valve disk and applying a normal load on the sealing surfaces, and the valve member having substantially equal opposed effective areas acted on by pressure fluid when the ports are open such that the valve member is substantially balanced and the force required to rotate the valve member is essentially constant being a function of the normal load on the sealing surfaces and independent of variations in inlet fluid pressure.

    摘要： A retainer structure for mounting an appliance, such as a sink, in a counter opening, wherein the appliance has an outer rim therearound overlying the edges of the counter opening, and comprising a clamp member secured to the underside of the rim and extending into the opening and carrying a cam pivotal about the point of the securement of the clamp member to the rim between a rest position and a fully deflected position, a retainer clip mounted on the counter within the opening and having a fixed cam surface extending upwardly and inwardly into the opening, the cam engaging the cam surface to press the periphery of the rim against the top of the counter, and a deflecting flange on the cam for permitting insertion of the appliance into the opening without the use of any tools; in a second form, a clip is provided between the underside of the counter and the clamp member and carrying a screw to permit manual adjustment of the rim against the top of the counter.
