摘要: A rapidly deployable video monitoring system for surveillance purposes, for example, comprises a portable sign base including an upright vertical member, and at least one video camera coupled to the sign base or vertical member. The system may further include one or more signs fastened to the upright vertical member. The camera may be conspicuous or visually obscured, depending upon the deployed environment. The camera, which may be a still camera or a video recorder, may wirelessly communicate with a monitoring station. Personnel in the monitoring station may be able to control the pan, tilt, or zoom of the camera.

摘要: This invention resides in explosion-resistant walls, panels and partitions, particularly for use around buildings, works of art, public places, and so forth, and wherein, in certain embodiments, may include textures and/or graphics to disguise and/or beautify the structure. In terms of a typical construction, the system includes a plurality of vertical metal pipes, with a portion of each pipe being preferably buried several feet below the ground surface, and a portion of the pipe remains exposed above ground. Two or more horizontal metal pipes are interconnected to the vertical metal pipes, creating apertures that are filled with explosion-absorbing panels. In contrast to “explosion-proof” panels, which require sufficient strength to remain in tact in the presence of a blast, the infill panels according to the invention some form of attachment mechanism which “gives way” in the presence of an explosion, thereby effectively absorbing the shock. In alternative embodiments, the infill panels may be constructed of a fabric such Kevlar, or other material or mesh, which either deforms or breaks upon the impact of a blast. Alternatively, a solid panel of metal or even thick acrylic or other polymeric may be used, which becomes detached from the frame structure upon impact, but does not get thrown in an uncontrolled manner. Rather, hinges or tethers keep the dislodged panels connected to the frame structure. In the preferred embodiment, the pipes are made of steel, and one or more of the pipes may be filled with a fortifying material, such as cement. A cover may be provided to visually obscure the pipes. Such a cover may give the appearance of brick, cinder block, stone or wood. In addition, the system may include a floral decorative element. For example, the infill panels may be die-cut or painted to look like foliage or the building or other environment the barrier is intended to protect.

摘要: A post assembly with illuminated information includes a hollow tube extending upwardly from a ground surface, the tube having a sidewall with textual or graphical information cut therethrough. A lighting assembly is disposed within the hollow tube, and a transparent or translucent sleeve positioned over the tube such that when the lighting assembly is activated, the textual or graphical information is visible through the transparent or translucent sleeve. The lighting assembly may include a flashing light. In the preferred embodiment the hollow tube is metal, and the transparent or translucent sleeve is constructed of plastic. The lighting assembly preferably comprises one or more fluorescent tubes. The textual or graphical information may be traffic-related, or it may concern other directives. The post preferably has a circular cross-section in the range of 2 to 10 inches, and an optional base may be provided for mounting to a ground surface.

摘要: Trapped air is used to hold a sleeve onto an elongated member such as a vertical post or pillar. A sleeve is provided having an open end and a closed end, and an inner diameter which is at least slightly greater than the outside diameter of the member being covered. At least one spacer is provided circumferentially around the member, which is positioned proximate to the end over which the open end of the sleeve is placed for installation purposes. As the sleeve is subsequently urged over the member, air trapped between the end of the member including the spacer and the closed end of the sleeve is expelled past the spacer and out the open end of the sleeve between the outside wall of the member, such that when the sleeve is fully installed, a relatively small volume of air remains between the end of the member with the spacer and the closed end of the sleeve. With such a configuration, if one then attempts to pull the sleeve off the member, air movement past the spacer in the opposite direction is again very slow, preventing the sleeve from being pulled off the member without a substantial effort. In the preferred embodiment, two spaced-apart bands of resilient adhesive tape are used to provide the spacer material. In an alternative embodiment the sleeve itself may be formed having one or more circumferential bands with an inside diameter slightly less than the inside diameter of the sleeve overall.

摘要: The present invention provides a cart corral assembly of the type employed by stores, such as grocery stores, to encourage the consumer to temporarily store grocery carts in the parking lot before bringing the cart within the store structure. The cart corral includes a first set of two spaced apart vertical rails in a base support extended between these rails. The base support supports the vertical rails in an upright position. At least two spaced apart horizontal rails are provided and are removably engaged with the vertical rails in a position abut the base support. The horizontal rails form an obtuse angle with the vertical rails. A second set of two spaced apart vertical rails are provided opposite the first set of vertical rails and are removably engaged with the horizontal rails. A second base support extends between the second set of vertical rails and supports the vertical rails in an upright position. Removable and replaceable polymerized sheathing surrounds each of the vertical and horizontal rails. The polymerized sheathing has an inner diameter equal to or greater than the outer diameter of the vertical and horizontal rails. Removable slip-on structural fittings are provided for removably connecting the vertical and horizontal rails to each other.

摘要: The handrail assembly includes at least one tubular metal stanchion, having a base and a hemispherical cap having a threaded receiver and at least a horizontal top rail. The horizontal top rail has an inner metal pipe, an outer plastic pipe, and at least one aperture for receiving the metal stanchion. Prior to assemblage, a threaded fastener is attached to the interior of the inner metal pipe opposite the aperture. In an alternative embodiment, the hemispherical cap on the stanchion is replaced by a threaded fastener and a threaded nut is positioned within the interior of the inner metal pipe opposite the aperture. Prior to insertion of the stanchion into the aperture, at least one tubular plastic sheath, having a first end conforming with the base of the stanchion and a second end conforming with the top horizontal rail, is slipped onto the tubular metal stanchion. Following placement of the top horizontal rail atop the stanchion, the sheath rests on the base of the stanchion and engages the top horizontal rail. The top horizontal rail is locked in position atop the stanchion by threading the threaded receiver and the threaded fastener together. Disassemblage of the handrail assembly is facilitated by the easy unthreading of the threaded receiver and the threaded fastener.

摘要: A rotating guard rail assembly formed preferably of steel tubing and sheathed in a polymerized material such as plastic. The assembly generally comprises a vertical stanchion sheathed in plastic and having a rotating jacket assembly mounted about the exterior of the stanchion. The jacket is free to rotate about the stanchion, thereby acting as a cornering or pivoting device to redirect a moving object upon impact of the guard rail assembly.

摘要: A guard rail assembly having a sheath formed of polymerized material, such as plastic. A panel set within the rail structure is also formed of a polymerized material, such as plastic. The sheathing about the guard rail assembly creates a protective coating eliminating repainting of the guard rail assembly and further preventing damage to the guard rail and impacting devices.
