摘要: An intranet server, memory medium and process for handling requests for resources from a downstream intranet server or a user. The intranet server is configured by a data shadowing program to locally store resources that have a high usage frequency. If a resource has not been requested for a predetermined time out period, it is deleted from local memory. Resources stored in local memory are served in response to requests for them, thus avoiding the service of such resources over the internet each time they are requested. An inquiry procedure handles status requests for new versions in either an active or a passive mode. In the active mode, the intranet server that directly interfaces with the internet periodically checks the status and receives updated versions of resources stored in its local memory. The resources stored in local memory are then served upon request from a user. In the passive mode, status inquiries are sent upstream through the intranet system then via the internet to the web server that serves the resource being requested. The web server returns a revised version only if there is one.

摘要: This invention is directed to relational extenders for a computer-based relational database. Each relational extender includes at least one column, in a first, business, table containing a user defined application database, dedicated to object handles for defining the complex data type of an object; a second, attribute, table containing at least one column defining a unique characteristic associated with the one object and one column dedicated to containing the object handle; and a third, metadata, table containing at least one column defining a common characteristic associated with all objects defined within the business table and one column dedicated to containing the object handle and at least one column dedicated to containing a reference to object data associated with the object. The relational extender further includes a fourth table containing a reference to each object handle column defined in the first table, a fifth table containing the names of the second and third tables for each object defined in the first table, a sixth table containing a reference to each object handle removed from the first table and including one column dedicated to containing a reference to the location of the object data associated with the removed object handle, and a seventh table having at least one column which describes a property of the data type of each object defined in the first table. The relational extender further includes an eighth table as a temporary holding table for the second table, and a ninth table as a temporary holding table for the third table. Both the eighth and ninth tables are used in conjunction with the extender triggers to ensure data integrity.

摘要: A system and method for searching recorded speech is disclosed. The system and method comprises converting the recorded speech into text using a voice recognition system. As the speech is being converted, naturally occurring breaks in the languages will be used to take time indexes from the recording. The system and method includes creating a full text index of the recorded speech utilizing an information extender. The full text index contains a plurality of time stamps that point to the occurrence of words in the recorded speech. Finally, the text is searched by a full text search server that has linguistic search capabilities using the full text index. Finally, the searched text, the text index and the recorded speech are stored in the database. The recorded speech is searched by locating relevant phrases or words, and then mapping the time stamps associated with the relevant phrases words back to the recorded speech in the database.
