    摘要: Cell elements of rotary-to-linear and linear-to-rotary motion converters, series of such cells and combinations of such series are disclosed together with operated and operating mechanisms. Each cell element consists of a pair of rotatable separators which may be common to adjacent cells and are interconnected by linking members arranged so that when one separator is turned relative to another the cell is subject to a contracting motion with the locations of the connections between the links and each separator travelling along a combined rotary and transitional path. With a contracted cell, an axial pull on one separator exerts a combined axial pull and torque on its other separator. The link lengths are less than the square root of the product of the diameters of said paths unless stability over the maximum rotation is not important. Prosthetic devices are disclosed incorporating the converters.
