Abstract:
A heat exchanger is provided and includes a frame defining a volumetric body with substantially flat upper and lower sides, heat exchange elements disposed within an interior of the body, sorbent material disposed among the heat exchange elements within the interior of the body, retainer screens disposed at upper and lower sides of the heat exchange elements and sorbent material and structural foam layers supportively disposed between the retainer screens and the substantially flat upper and lower sides to absorb loading applied to the retainer screens.
Abstract:
A rotary valve includes a housing including an inlet and an outlet. A drum is rotatably located in the housing and includes one or more fluid pathways to convey fluid flow between the inlet and the outlet. The rotary valve further includes a single-piece unitary drum seal having a portion located around a perimeter of a port of the one or more fluid pathways to seal between the drum and the housing. A drum seal assembly for a rotary valve includes a single piece, unitary drum seal disposed at a drum of the rotary valve. The drum seal has a portion extending around a perimeter of a port of one or more fluid pathways of the drum to seal between the drum and an inner wall of a housing. The drum seal assembly further includes an energizer to urge the drum seal into contact with the housing.
Abstract:
An ECS system includes an ACM mounted adjacent an air-liquid heat exchanger through a diffuser that contains a diffuser plate. The diffuser plate receives airflow from the ACM which strikes the diffuser plate and flows radially outward and around the diffuser plate and into the air-liquid heat exchanger to provide minimal pressure loss and proper flow distribution into the air-liquid heat exchanger with significantly less packaging space.
Abstract:
A system for mounting a hybrid electronic component to a PC board is disclosed. The system includes a set of brackets for mutually engaging a first surface of the PC board and a cover surface of the hybrid electronic component, wherein the cover surface has an arcuate shape when in a vacuum environment. The brackets are designed with legs having lengths and thicknesses for providing clearance between the cover surface of the hybrid and the first surface of the PC board for use when the hybrid electronic component is in a vacuum environment.
Abstract:
A heat exchanger is provided and includes a frame defining a volumetric body with substantially flat upper and lower sides that each has inwardly extending ribs defining airflow pathways, heat exchange elements disposed within an interior of the body and partition walls disposed to run perpendicularly with respect to the ribs and to transmit loading between the upper and the lower sides from the ribs and through the interior of the body.

Abstract:
An impaction classifier is provided for generating submicron sized liquid droplets. A liquid spray of liquid droplets from a primary nebulizer is directed at an impaction device, producing droplets of smaller size. These smaller droplets are directed into a chamber and around a shroud where larger droplets are separated out. The smaller droplets then exit the chamber through one or more outlet ports.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic piezoelectric aerosol submicron mist generator is disclosed having a high-frequency, piezoelectric crystal (18) which is vibratible at a selected frequency to atomize a liquid (24) that has been evenly distributed over the crystal (18) via an annular flow control washer (28). The atomized liquid (24) forms a mist (20) thereafter received into a mixing chamber (30) wherein the mist (20) is entrained into a low pressure gas (36). The low pressure gas (36) transports the entrained mist (20) about a separator plate (32), whereby the mist (20) must change flow direction in order to exit a nozzle outlet (42) thus forcing droplets (40) larger than the desired size to separate from the low pressure gas (36) before reaching the nozzle outlet (42).
