Abstract: An electrode is provided that includes a conductive member defining a first side and a second side; a conductive composition disposed on the first side of the conductive member, wherein the conductive composition includes a therapeutically effective quantity of an exfoliant; and an electrical lead in electrical communication with the conductive member. The conductive composition is capable of reducing a level of an impedance of the skin of the subject.
