摘要： A xenon lamp drive unit of the present invention comprises: a charging circuit; and a current control circuit adapted to supply a current to a xenon lamp by using a charged voltage of the charging circuit as a power source, wherein the current control circuit is adapted to supply, in a first period after a lamp ignition, a high output lamp current having a higher current value than a steady output lamp current to the xenon lamp by constant current control and supply, in a second period after the first period, the steady output lamp current to the xenon lamp by constant current control.

摘要： According to one embodiment, a projection type display apparatus, which modulates a laser beam generated from a laser beam generating element according to an input video signal and projects the modulated laser beam onto a screen via a projection lens so as to display a video, sets a light quantity of the laser beam based on information representing a size of the screen so that an optical power of the laser beam per unit area on the screen falls within a range conforming to predetermined safety standards and brightness on the screen can be secured at a maximum, and controls the laser beam generating element so that the laser beam of the set light quantity is generated.

摘要： A selector selects a video signal from video signals input via any of a plurality of video input terminals, and outputs the thus-selected video signal. A plurality of video signal detection sections determine whether or not video signals are being supplied from the plurality of video input terminals. When a video signal is newly detected, a plurality of video signal determination sections determine a format of the video signal. A signal processing section performs, on the video signal output from the selector, signal processing in accordance with a result of the determination output from the signal determination sections. When the video signal is newly detected during a period in which no video signal is being supplied to the plurality of video input terminals, control means causes the selector to select the thus-detected video signal.
