An abrasive apparatus adopted to abrade a curved surface of workpiece includes: an abrading head including an abrading tip having a substantially spherical outer surface and a rotating shaft supporting the abrading tip, the abrading head being positioned to face the curved surface; a thrust moving mechanism for relatively moving the abrading head and the curved surface; a lateral moving mechanism for relatively moving the abrading head and the curved surface; a pivotal moving mechanism for relatively moving the abrading head and the curved surface pivotally around a center point; and a controller for controlling the abrading head, the thrust moving mechanism, the lateral moving mechanism and the pivotal moving mechanism synchronously so that the abrading tip contacts and presses the curved surface at any point thereon with a substantially constant pressure in a direction consistent with a normal line thereat. An angle adjuster supporting the abrading head for adjusting an angle of the rotating shaft against the curved surface is also disclosed.

The present invention provides: a polarizable electrode for use in electric double-layer capacitor, which is made of a carbon composite material composed mainly of: 100 parts by weight of an activated carbon, 0.05 parts by weight of an amorphous carbon, 0.1-1,000 parts by weight of a conductive agent, and 0.03-90 parts by weight of a fibrillated carbon; and an electric double-layer capacitor comprising at least one pair of a positive electrode and a negative electrode each containing the above polarizable electrode and each impregnated with an electrolytic solution. The above polarizable electrode and electric double-layer capacitor are substantially free from the drawbacks of conventional polarizable electrodes and conventional electric double-layer capacitors, have a low internal resistance and a long life, and can be charged with or can discharge a large electric current of several amperes to several hundreds of amperes momentarily.

The present invention provides a separator for fuel cell which alleviates the problems of the prior art, which has high conductivity, high gas impermeability and high strength, and which can be produced easily. The separator for fuel cell according to the present invention is a molding comprising a conductive carbon powder and a polymer compound, wherein the conductive carbon powder in the molding has an aspect ratio of 4 to 60.
