The present invention provides a method of controlling surface hydroxyl groups by treating the surface of silicone particles with alkali metal ions or alkaline earth metal ions. The present invention also provides a coating composition using the silicone particle, in which the amount of hydroxyl groups present on the surface of the silicone particle can be controlled.
