摘要: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate including a first electrode; a second substrate including thereon a second electrode having at least one elongate hole having a longitudinal direction and facing to the first electrode; a third electrode positioned under the at least one hole and between the second electrode and the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer comprising a plurality of liquid crystal molecules and interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The third electrode has a bias voltage being two volts higher than a pixel voltage of the sub-electrode.

摘要: A voltage difference is set between a control electrode and a pixel electrode of a pixel dependent on the gray level of at least one adjacent pixel. A minimum voltage difference, increasing with the gray level of the pixel, is required between the control and the pixel electrodes to prevent disclination. A method of eliminating disclination adjusts the gray level of the pixel and the adjacent pixel to ensure that the voltage difference is greater than the minimum voltage difference, setting the voltage difference into the control and the pixel electrodes, and resetting the potential of the pixel electrode to display the gray level of the pixel without varying the voltage difference between the pixel and the control electrodes. The potential of the control electrode is set to be higher than the potential of the pixel electrode when the polarity of the pixel is positive. The potential of the control electrode is set to be lower than the potential of the pixel electrode when the polarity of the pixel is negative.
