Abstract: An after-hours depository entrance of the drawer type employs an inclined passageway down through the drawer to receive a deposit. As the drawer is opened the passageway is "intercepted" by means in the drawer to detect any object trapped in the passageway before the drawer is fully open to receive a new deposit. As the drawer is closed, the new deposit is carried rearwardly in the passageway and finally, when the drawer is fully closed, it drops out through the bottom of the drawer into the vault. Two versions of the invention are disclosed, one for envelope deposits in which, as the drawer is opened, any envelope trapped therein is in effect destroyed or the drawer jammed against further opening by the interceptor means. The other version is for bag deposits in which, as the drawer is opened and if there is a bag trapped in it, the interceptor means likewise jams the drawer against further opening. In both versions the action of the interceptor means also frustrates any fishing attempts.

Abstract: An electronic combination lock is disclosed which allows access to a closed or secure location wherein the lock includes a locking mechanism for operating between a locked condition and an unlocked condition. A rotatable cam wheel has a circumferential surface portion defining a slot such that rotation of the cam wheel moves the slot. A moveable lever is coupled to the locking mechanism for changing the condition of the locking mechanism from the locked condition to the unlocked condition and is pivotably movable into and out of engagement with the cam wheel. The movable lever engages the cam wheel such that rotation of the cam wheel changes the condition of the locking mechanism. A cantilever and detent on the lever releasably maintain the lever in a position disengaged from the cam wheel. A solenoid and projectable detent moves the lever from its disengaged position for engaging the lever with the cam wheel so that rotation of the cam wheel changes the locking mechanism from the locked condition to the unlocked condition.

Abstract: A safe deposit box nest includes an outer housing into which are assembled a number of sheet metal partitions and shelves to form compartments. In order to eliminate the need for individually fitting each compartment door, each such door is hinged to and strikes against posts formed by extruded members such as aluminum attached to the front of the partitions. To the same end the forward edges of the shelves are disposed between the posts and doors and are folded rearwardly upon themselves and compressd to form shelf edge portions of uniform thickness. Finally, the nest is constructed in a manner which reduces welding to a minimum and helps insure accurate and uniform compartment openings to which the doors are applied.
