Abstract: An apparatus and method for allowing at least one second device configured to use a second communication protocol to communicate with at least one first field device configured to use a first communication protocol. The apparatus including a first network communication arrangement configured to communicate with the at least one first field device using the first communication protocol, a second network communication arrangement configured to communicate with the at least one second device using the second communication protocol, and a device emulation processing arrangement configured to emulate the at least one first field device such that the at least one second device may communicate with the emulated at least one first field device using a third communication protocol.
