摘要： An inflator for an air bag, includes, a tubular housing including a gas discharge portion, a first fixing member provided in an outer circumferential surface of the tubular housing for fixing the inflator to a vehicle, the first fixing member including a contacting surface fixed to the outer circumferential surface, and a non-contacting surface extending in a direction tangential to the outer circumferential surface from one end of the first fixing member without contacting the outer circumferential surface. The first fixing member has a rib that extends from the contacting surface to the non-contacting surface.

摘要： In the airbag device of the present invention, a cylinder-shaped inflator includes a discharge side end portion having a plurality of gas discharge ports. The discharge side end is connected with the airbag utilizing a clamp by being inserted into a tubular gas inlet port of the airbag. Each of gas discharge ports includes a circumferential opening and an end face opening. The end face opening emits inflation gas in an axial direction of the inflator when the inflator is connected with the gas inlet port. Between each of the circumferential openings is a supporting plane for supporting an inner surface of the gas inlet port. The discharge side end includes a guide portion for redirecting inflation gas flowing from inside to directions perpendicular to the axis of the inflator when the gas inlet port is not connected with the inflator, such that inflation gas is discharged from the circumferential openings of the gas discharge ports. The airbag of the present invention dispenses with a diffuser and facilitates a connecting work of a cylinder-shaped inflator and an airbag.

摘要： In a mechanical ignition type gas generator including a housing which consists of an upper outer shell container (diffuser) and a lower outer shell container (closure) fitted to each other in such a manner as to define an annular space for storing therein a gas generating agent, a priming charge, a cooling material and a filter, and in which said closure has a cylindrical space capable of fitting to, and storing, a cylindrical mechanical igniter on its lower surface and a plurality of caps ignited by an ignition pin of said igniter are disposed on the top wall of said space, a hole for communicating a priming charge room with the front surface of said caps is disposed inside said closure of said housing besides a cap hole for communicating the back surface of said caps with said priming charge room so as to prevent delayed ignition of said caps.

摘要： The present invention provides a gas generator for an air bag that can be reduced in size and thickness. A gas outlet is formed in the axial direction of the gas generator in a diffuser which is attached to an open end portion of a bottle portion storing a pressurized medium. The gas outlet is closed by a rupturable plate, and an igniter collar attached with an igniter for rupturing the rupturable plate is attached to the diffuser. A first gas discharge hole that opens in the axial direction of a housing is also formed in the igniter collar, and hence no member protrudes in the width direction of the gas generator, enabling the entire gas generator to be reduced in size and thickness.

Stud bolts 51, 52 are fixed by welding to the side faces of a first closure 30 and a second closure 40, which are connected to a cylindrical housing 20. When connecting a gas introduction port of the air bag to a diffuser portion 43, the stud bolts 51, 52 do not cause an obstruction, and hence the attachability of an inflator 10 to a module case using the stud bolts 51, 52 is not impaired.

One or more first fixing members 21 which is a mounting means to a vehicle are fixed by welding to a circumferential surface of the housing 11 of an inflator 10. As to the first fixing member 21, part of a surface 25 is fixed along the circumferential surface of the tubular housing 11, the remaining surface 26 is radially extended, not contacting with the circumferential surface of the tubular housing 11, and the radial length a1 of the remaining surface is 0.5 to 1.5 times the diameter 2r of the housing 11.

摘要： A gas generator for an airbag has a reduced number of components and in which an automatic ignition material can ignite at an appropriate time. This gas generator includes a housing, an ignition unit accommodating chamber in the housing, an ignition unit installed in the ignition unit accommodating chamber, a gas generating material, and a cooling and purifying unit. The ignition unit includes a transfer charge container and an igniter. The transfer charge container has a cup containing a transfer charge and a cover hermetically sealing the cup. The igniter is activated by a signal to ignite the transfer charge, and a generated gas is introduced into an airbag to protect an occupant against an impact. The transfer charge container includes a cup part and a cover part, either the bottom of the cup part or the cover part are outwardly curved to form an outwardly convex surface. The container is resiliently held between a top wall portion of the ignition unit accommodating chamber and the igniter.

Protrusions are formed on the outer surface of the inflator. The bag holder has a bottom wall with an insertion hole. The inflator is held by the bag holder in a state that the pawls retain the lower surface of the protrusions.
