A conveyor for transporting and elevating articles and a method and system for conveying articles up inclines is provided. The conveyor has a conveyor belt and at least one cleat disposed on an outer surface of the belt and configured to receive and move an object along the conveyor frame. The system may also include a portable base having a base frame and at least one wheel secured to the base frame. The conveyor may also be pivotably coupled to the portable base.

The conveyor system has an elevating carriage and a plurality of support elements for conveying articles up the conveyor. Specifically, the towable conveyor system comprises a conveyor having a support frame, a plurality of support elements, a drive end with a motor, and an idle end; an elevating carriage having a first end interconnected to the support frame of the conveyor, a second with two or more wheels, and a support member extending upwardly from the elevating carriage; a cable system for raising the conveyor into a position of use and for lowering the conveyor into a towing position; one or more locking mechanisms; and a hitch for connecting the conveyor to a rear end of a towing vehicle.

Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to a vehicle-mounted conveyor system, and more specifically a conveyor system that can be mounted on a short-length, non-CDL truck. The conveyor can convey a wide range of materials, including shingles, shakes (e.g., loose dirt, gravel, and rocks), tiles, underlayment, solar panels, siding, bricks, fasteners, etc. In some embodiments, the conveyor system includes a frame with a four-sided FRP tube, a belt positioned on top of the tube, cleats interconnected to the belt, belt pulleys, a motor, a material backstop, and conveyor positioning features. Conveyor positioning features include a tilting hinge a conveyor carriage, a telescopic vertical post, and a slewing drive. In some embodiments, the conveyor frame is a fiber-reinforced plastic material.

In some embodiments, the conveyor system comprises: a first conveyor; a second conveyor; a conveyor mount, wherein the first conveyor is interconnected to the conveyor mount; a first plate; a second plate; a post interconnected to the first plate; an arm member interconnected on one end to the post and interconnected on a second end to the second plate; a first hydraulic cylinder interconnected to the post and the arm member; a rotator gear interconnected to the second plate and the conveyor mount; a second hydraulic cylinder interconnected to the conveyor mount and the rotator gear; and a vehicle stabilizer, wherein the conveyor system has a first travel position and a second deployed position.
