Abstract: In one aspect, cemented carbide bodies are provided. A cemented carbide body described herein, in some embodiments, comprises a tungsten carbide phase, a binder phase comprising at least one metal of the iron group or an alloy thereof, a solid solution phase of carbides of zirconium and niobium (Zr,Nb)C and cubic carbides in an amount ranging from about 0.5 volume percent to about 6 volume percent.
