摘要： The present invention discloses novel processes for preparing optically active sulphoxide compounds of formula I by asymmetric oxidation of prochiral sulphide compounds of Formula II. More particularly, the invention discloses processes for preparation of optically active proton pump Inhibitors (PPIs) or their optically active precursor (=intermediate) compounds (Formula I) that can be converted into pharmaceutically useful PPIs.
