摘要: An apparatus for stripping an insulated wire includes a resistive heater element having a first end, a second end, and a coil formed between the first end and the second end. The coil has an inner diameter that is large enough to receive a section of the insulated wire. The apparatus further includes an electronic circuit connected to the first and second ends to deliver power to the resistive heater element such that the coil uniformly distributes heat about the section of the insulated wire to thermally decompose insulation on the section of insulated wire.

摘要: NMR logging apparatus is provided which produces a strong, static and homogeneous magnetic field B.sub.0 in a Volume of an adjacent formation on one side of the tool to measure nuclear magnetic resonance characteristics thereof at two different depths of investigations. In the preferred embodiment, the tool has an RF antenna mounted on the outside of the metal body of the tool, directing focused oscillating magnetic fields B.sub.1 at said Volume to polarize or tip the magnetic moments of hydrogen nuclei of fluids within rock pores. The same antenna can be used to receive signals of proton precession in the Volume of interest immediately after transmission of the RF polarizing field B.sub.1. One of the NMR readings is employed to compensate for inaccuracies in the other NMR reading to provide an overall improved NMR log.

摘要: A shielded solenoid for use in well logging is disclosed in which a cylindrical or solenoidal coil is provided in a support member. A shield is spirally wrapped about the wall of the support member and the coil. The resulting toroidally shaped shield has its individual turns cut so that no complete electrical path exists in each loop of the shield. Each loop of the coil is electrically connected to a ground ring. The shielded solenoid is capacitively shielded from the borehole environment. The shielding is effective because the shielding conductors are effectively transparent to TE electromagnetic fields generated by alternating current flow in the cylindrical coil and substantially eliminate TM electromagnetic fields generation by such current flow.This abstract of the disclosure is neither intended to define the scope of the invention, which is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to limit the invention in any way.
