Abstract:
A material handling vehicle includes first and second control handles positioned at opposing ends of an operator compartment. The first control handle is positioned adjacent the forks for driving the vehicle in a fore or forks first direction, and the second control handle is positioned adjacent the back of the vehicle for driving the vehicle in the aft or forks trailing direction. The control handles provide stability for the operator and an intuitive operator interface irrespective of direction of travel.
Abstract:
A system for changing a removable sleeve on a printing roller in a flexographic printing press is disclosed. Axially fixed bearing assemblies are installed on the mandrel of the printing roll, and positioned in a split bearing block. In changing the printing sleeve, at least one bearing block is opened to release the bearing assemblies as the mandrel is raised and fitted with a removable axial extension. The axial extension is then braced to support the roll in a raised position. The printing sleeve can then be axially extracted onto the extension, clearing the printing roller and the frame of the printing press. A second brace is then applied intermediate the printing roller and the extracted printing sleeve. Withdrawal of the first brace allows the printing sleeve to be entirely removed while the partially dismounted printing roller is stabilized by the second brace. A replacement printing sleeve is then placed over the axial extension, and the process reversed.

The aft control handle is provided in a twist grip style, which can be gripped easily by an operator facing the aft of the material handling vehicle. The control handles provide stability for the operator and an intuitive operator interface irrespective of direction of travel.
Abstract:
An auxiliary wheel is mounted on a lift truck caster wheel assembly to normally be carried above the floor, but to engage the floor to prevent overturning, thereby increasing the lateral stability of the truck.
Abstract:
In a carbon black manufacturing process a method is provided whereby the off-gas from at least one carbon black manufacturing process is utilized both to lower the temperature of the hot combustion gases and to provide some heat to the hot combustion gases by being burned in the combustion tunnel of a carbon black reactor. A portion of the off-gas is utilized while still holding the total volume of the hot combustion gases substantially constant at a preselected substantially constant temperature to insure a substantially constant quality of carbon black.
Abstract:
In the manufacture of mineral insulated cable, by a continuous process in which the tubular sheath is formed by bending and seam welding travelling metal strip, and insulating powder and conductor wires are continuously delivered into the sheath, one wire is fed through a guide tube extending into the sheath beyond the weld point, and having an aperture in its wall adjacent to the weld area. The wire so exposed directly to the heat from the weld conducts excess heat away from the weld, thus preventing thermal damage, in particular to a powder delivery tube if present. The guide tube is so arranged that powder is excluded from the weld area. When the sheath is formed of an oxidizable metal such as copper, a continuous stream of rare gas is delivered to the underside of the weld area. Forms of apparatus for carrying out vertical and horizontal processes are described.
Abstract:
A material handling vehicle includes an operator compartment having two operator control handles, a deadman switch accessible by an operator using either control handle, and a traction system. The traction system is controlled by the control handles to drive the vehicle in a selected direction, wherein an operator can control the traction system while facing one of the selected directions and the deadman switch is selectively activatable to enable operation from both control handles.
Abstract:
A refrigeration system comprises an evaporator having an inlet and an outlet, a condenser, a compressor that is located between the evaporator and the condenser and that provides suction pressure at the evaporator outlet, an expansion valve that is connected to the evaporator inlet and that is operable to regulate a flow of refrigerant into the evaporator, a pressure regulator that is connected to the evaporator outlet and that is operable to limit the suction pressure to a regulated value, and a controller that coordinates operation of the pressure regulator with operation of the expansion valve.
